Johnny is the co-owner (with his amazing wife Jen) at Fukumoto Fitness in Winnipeg, Canada, home of the Smart Group Training program for people of all fitness levels looking to look, move, and feel better. From age 5 to 22, you would have found him on the ice more often that not playing competitive hockey in the Greater Toronto Area. He also played baseball, football, and volleyball where his passion for movement led him to pursue a degree in Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. Jonathan’s first love: football. After 9 years in the sport, he realized that needed to leave that dream to pursue something bigger. Jonathan decided that he needed to fine tune some areas of his life, including his health. He began his own journey and lost 65 pounds. This inspired him to try something new...enter running! He ran his first Half Marathon 4 years ago and has since completed over two dozen Half Marathons, 1 Full and a handful of Triathlons. As a professional dancer she has toured and performed in musicals such as West Side Story, Chicago and Guys and Dolls, and appeared in films including Shall We Dance. She was drawn to yoga as a supplement to her dance training and fell in love with it’s blend of breath, movement and meditation. Sam’s playful, open approach to life comes across in her classes.
