Yoga found me while I was pregnant with my first child. As a graduate from McMaster University with a Physical Education Degree, I was no stranger to movement, however I had somehow missed the yoga mat. Determined to stay healthy and active as my belly blossomed, I took my first yoga class. From that day on, yoga has become an intricate part of my life. The breath, the movement, the rhythm, the fluidity, the steadiness of mind, and the calm sense of well being were new doors to have opened for me. I was hooked!

Hard to believe that was ten years ago ~ and now I have two beautiful children who inspire me every day to be playful. They move so freely, and as I continue to watch this I become more and more aware of their liquid nature. The element of water so fluid in their bodies and how fearless they are as they explore their growth. Teaching has evolved for me and I dedicate my classes to flow; to finding a little more freedom in our bodies and a little dance upon our mats. A positive energy fills the room, a sense of humour always welcomed, and music sequenced to meet the flow of the class chosen. I practice with 'joy' and inspire my students to find the same. I encourage big smiles, laughter, even tears while we flow through our practice honouring what life gives us, and how we stand there in the moment and look straight at it.

Shiva Rea led me through my teacher training ~ and today I find myself continually inspired by many different teachers, friends, family and kids everywhere in my life. Let's face it, it's fun to look to our children and turn our lives upside down sometimes!
