Annamay Pierse

Olympic swimmer and world record holder

Annamay has been swimming for the past fourteen years and caught the world's eyes at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio, Brazil where she won silver medals in the 200m breaststroke, the 100m breaststroke and the 4x100m medley relay, breaking three Canadian records in the process. Annamay made her first Olympic team in 2008. In the Beijing Olympic Games she placed 10th in the 100m breaststroke, 7th in the 4x100m medley relay and 6th in the 200m breaststroke, setting a new Canadian record.

In March 2009, Annamay broke the World Record in the Short Course 200m breaststroke and established a new Canadian record in the 100m breaststroke. Currently ranked first in the world in both events, Annamay will compete in the World Championships for Long Course Swimming this summer in Rome, aspiring to have as much success there as she has had in her short course season.

Annamay lives by the mantra, "Dream as though you will live forever. Live as though you will die tomorrow!"
