Jaime was born and raised in North Vancouver and constantly like to takes advantage of what the shore has to offer. She’s always had a passion for out door sports such as snowboarding, running and mountain biking. Anything that presents a challenge Jaime is determined to conquer.
In 2000 she attempted an athletic journey in triathlons and marathon running, but in 2004 her aspiration was cut short when she suffered injury to both her knees and had to have surgery. However her athletic spirit wasn’t detoured – under the suggestion of a close friend Jaime took up recreational boxing at a local Boxing gym to compensate. She immediately fell in love with the sport and decided to take it up competitively.
Boxing wasn’t the only thing she fell in love with. Several months after starting to box she met her current coach and husband. Together, in 2006 Jaime and her husband David Schuck began a partnership in a boxing focused fitness company called ProBox fitness. They also took over the coaching of the legendary Astoria Boxing Club, a competitive gym in Vancouver. Then in May of 2007 they began a North Shore chapter of ProBox Fitness based out of Level 10 Fitness, and are currently running programs in both facilities.
Jaime has now been competing for just over two years with an almost untarnished record. She has hopes to win the provincial title and then the nationals in the up and coming year.
However, boxing isn’t all about winning to her. As an empowered woman and athlete, Jaime’s real focus is to introduce the strength, both physical and mental through a sport like boxing. Her hope is to inspire others, particularly women, to realize what they are capable of achieving, especially in an activity that is mainly male dominated.
When Jaime isn’t boxing or driving ProBox Fitness forward she is working as a graphic designer for an exciting company in Richmond and is also a practicing fine artist. Her weekday are usually filled with work or training, but her weekends are dedicated to spending time with her husband, family and friends.
