Brandon is a full-time professional road cyclist racing for Canada’s top professional cycling team, Symmetrics Pro Cycling (www.symmetricscycling.com). He has represented Canada at 3 World Championships and has been delivering team-mates to the finish line, for top podium positions, throughout the world.
Having entered the international racing scene at an early age of seventeen, Brandon has spent numerous seasons living and racing on European roads – racing in over ten countries. Throughout all the travel and racing, yoga quickly became his “comparative advantage.” Introduced at a training camp in South Carolina as a simple way to gain flexibility, yoga soon became a multifaceted training tool in his competitive training “tool box”.
In 2006, Brandon became a CPTN qualified yoga instructor with the goal of passing yoga benefits to others, while at the same time advancing his own yogi skills. His teaching began in Ontario and expanded when he moved to Kitsilano in 2007. Find him teaching yoga and spinning at Steve Nash Sports Club downtown (www.stevenashsportsclub.com). His classes mix both Hatha and Power yoga into a workout geared towards the elite athlete in all of us!
“In my yoga class you’ll be sure to break of sweat, test your balance, question your strength and increase your flexibility… all in about an hour…Beginners are always welcome!”
In addition, Brandon enjoys taking the occasional break from his full-time studies at the University of British Columbia (Business) to cook up gluten-free (wheat free) dishes or brew up a great cup of coffee, both of which have helped him hold the fastest time up the famous Grouse Grind (summit seeker) in 2007. He plans to keep this position for 2008, so come challenge him!
After all that, it is his passion for sustainability that really gets him fired up. Teaming up with Clean Air Champions (www.cleanairchampions.ca), a non-profit organization aimed at promoting alternative modes of transportation, Brandon brings programs into elementary schools that teach kids to cut back on their emissions. His devotion to “clean air” has awarded him a spot at the Al Gore training campaign titled The Climate Project – Canada.

“Remember, every time you step into your automobile you contribute that small amount of emissions that will alter our future. RIDE A BIKE INSTEAD!”
