Lou began practicing yoga 8 years ago while trying to find something to combat the stress of her job as a clothing designer. Her passion for yoga grew from there and became more than just stress relief. When she became a mother 2 years ago, her son, Ezra inspired her to go on and teach the wonders of yoga to children of all ages.

"I want to create an environment that will nurture the spirit in every child. One that will allow children the space to explore, develop their true characters in a fun and creative way, while affirming their worthiness. I want to enable children to gain the abilities to help them achieve a healthy and happy mind, body and soul as well a conscious heart, now and for the future."

Being a mother changed her priorities in life. Lou had discovered that being a parent was so rewarding and such a wonderful experience, but also one that turned every day into a juggling act. It makes the goal of having balance in your life just that little bit more challenging. Her ideas grew from teaching children yoga, to also wanting to create classes that would allow whole families to come, have fun, grow closer and enjoy quality time together without the interruptions.

The seed of ‘Little Tree Yoga’ was born to provide a nurturing environment and creative classes for the whole family.

Lou, originally from the UK, moved to Vancouver in Feb 2007. She had spent the majority of 2006 training in many different areas of yoga and massage to enable her to offer families and kids classes around the city. Lou now offers pre and post natal massage in the comfort of your own home, through her massage and wellness studio, Nurture.

She uses her creative skills to put fun and sparkle into her lesson plans to help kids build body awareness and parents to bond with their kids.

Lou is a RYT and studied with Prana College of Yoga in Vancouver. She trained with the ‘YogaKids’ Teacher Training Program, and is also a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and a prenatal yoga teacher. Lou went on to become a YogaKids Trainer and runs workshops in Vancouver for parents, teachers, yoga teachers or anyone that wants to get ideas on how to help the children in their life have fun with moving their bodies.

Her hopes are that more people will follow her lead and open yoga up to the whole community, young or old because “its never to early or late to start your yoga practice.”
