Running Career Highlights
1985-1991- Professional, national and international athlete for Reebok Racing Team.
1986-Represented the US in the The Goodwill Games in Russia, finishing 4th place in the women’s marathon.
1987 – No. 1 female American Marathoner
1987 – First place female finisher in the New Jersey Waterfront Marathon with a course record performance of 2:34:17
1988-Inducted into the Colorado Sportswomen Hall of Fame
1988 – First place female finisher in the San Diego Marathon with a record time for the city of San Diego
1988- Seventh place female finisher in the US Olympic Marathon trials in a time of 2:33:14
1988- Third place female finisher in the Twin Cities Marathon with at time of 2:32:43
One of six American women who have qualified for four Olympic Trials since the inception of the marathon in 1984.
2009- Inducted into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame
Coaching Career
1984 to present – Frequent guest speaker on coaching and preparing athletes for competiton.
1989 to present – Owns a coaching business in the Denver area coaching approximately 60 adult athletes from beginner to elite in middle and long distance running and multi-sport events.
1989-1995 – Head Track and Cross Country Coach at John F. Kennedy High School, Denver, Colorado
1991-2000- Co-owned and operated Women’s Running Camps throughout the US and Canada for women runners. Served over 1500 women over the 9 year period.
1992 to 2005 – Head coach for the Leukemia Society -Team in Training Program - Rocky Mountain Chapter. Responsible for approximately 200+ athletes and 8 coaches.
1995 to Present – Conduct clinics and coach runners and triathletes at Colorado Athletic Club at Inverness
2002-Present –Founder and Co-Race Director of the Platte River Trail ½ Marathon and Buckhorn Exchange Relay, Colorado’s fastest growing ½ marathon.
2003- 2009- Founder and coach of Spikes Running Club for youth, serving approximately 100 kids each year ages 8-18.
2006-Hired by the Denver Marathon to spear head and coach a training group for runners who are entered in the Denver Marathon or ½ Marathon.
2006-Present – Founder and Co-Race Director of the Aetna Park to Park 10 Miler
2006 – Present- Head coach of Pancreatica Runs and Walks, a team training for the Aetna Park to Park 10 Miler and raising money for the Lorenzen Cancer Foundation.
Personal
I have been married to Rex Roben for 23 years. We have 2 children Kelsey 19 and Tyler 17. Both are avid athletes and my greatest joy is watching them compete. Kelsey is on the basketball team at Montana State University. We enjoy casual family hiking and biking.
