Truckee Running Club
Growing up in Menlo Park, CA, Lucia Lake was an athlete from the moment she took her first breath. Starting out with a love for gymnastics, she began competing at age six and continued through college at the NCAA division one school, University of California, Santa Barbara. As her competitive gymnastics career was ending, Lucia found her passion in the adrenaline powered sport of skydiving. Spending every waking moment dreaming of being at the dropzone and jumping ~700 times in a few years around the globe, life took a welcome turn when she made the decision to start a family. Needing some kind of athletic outlet and much needed time for her soul, she discovered the daily practice of yoga which fed her athletic hunger and her desire for inner spiritual peace.
Lucia moved part time to Truckee in 2004 with her husband, George, and three year old son, Shai. Knowing instantly that Truckee was her utopia, she laid down roots and has never looked back. Little did she know that a couple years later, she would be inspired by her friend Jarret to try running her first marathon. Before taking her first running step, she signed up for the Chicago marathon, bought her plane ticket, and told everyone she knew that she was running a marathon. Little did she know how much of a journey the training cycle would be or how it would change her life. Within six years of taking that first running step, she has completed 20 marathons including one ultra marathon, started the Truckee Running Club (bringing together a community of over 150 local athletes), is the much loved race director for the Lake Tahoe Marathon's 72 mile midnight express ultra marathon and double marathon, competed internationally at the 2010 Allianz Games, and is now proudly a lululemon running ambassador.
In her free time, Lucia loves traveling and experiencing other cultures.
