For as long as I can remember I have had a special relationship with fitness and the spiritual connection between the mind and body.
In October, 2010 I had an ahhh haaaa in shavasana, I knew I wanted to teach yoga. I came out of shavasana and walked up to Randi Lattimore, Midtown Mind/Body Director and told her I wanted to join her team and teach. Randi picked me up swung me around and took me in under her wing. Randi believed in me and is my yoga master and mentor.
I have been blessed to continue to grow my love and knowledge of Yoga continually inspired by: Karyn Lederman, Laura Zakbar, Aimee Senise Bohn, Shannon Mullen, Doug Rusho, and Lyndsey Fryer. I trained with John Salisbury and recently trained with Barron Baptist in the Catskills for eight days in yoga bootcamp.
During the past decade I have had two husbands and two babies pass away. Yoga helped me learn to stay and breathe through the uncomfortable places in my life rather than fighting or fleeing. I had to feel to heal. Through my faith, my practice, and all the love of my family and friends: I have come thru and over the mountain, not around it.
I have always had a passion for fitness. I attended the University of Arizona on an athletic gymnastics scholarship and was blessed to travel the country on a Division 1 team and compete while completing my Business Degree.
I then opened my own fitness facility, The Georgia Family Fitness Center, and offered aerobic classes as well as gymnastics and dance classes for the children.
I have been at Midtown Athletic Club for 11 years, teaching, spin, zumba, hi low aerobics, kick boxing and now yoga.
I am a blessed mom to the joy of my life Patrick Albert Smelt, my delightful eight year old son. Patrick is my light. I am always excited and expectant about the future plan God has for our life.
My life has been my training ground. I am grateful for the countless blessings that surround me. I have found where I belong and I am now teaching and sharing my passion of yoga with others.
My favorite quote is “Love like you’ll never get hurt, Dance like no one is watching, Sing like no one can hear you and live like its heaven on earth.”
