Janine McGann, a lifelong athlete, spent her childhood as a competitive gymnast. She has competed in several marathons, half marathons, mud runs, 10K and 5K events. As an adult, Janine embarked on an educational journey that took her to from the East Coast to Mid-West to the Pacific Northwest back to the East Coast. In that time she gained her undergrad and her Masters in Speech Pathology. In tandem, she was a fitness instructor and personal trainer. She is a certified Yoga and TRX instructor. During this time, she got married and had three sons. Janine's workout method is to marry both the tough physical challenges of metabolic and heavy lifting with the calming, spiritual flows of Yoga. Her competitive nature drove her to be a better athlete, but more importantly, compelled her to be a better person trainer, wife, and mother. She saw a huge gap between a truly fit and healthy female versus what the magazines and even some of her peers were purporting as the “ideal” female body. The realization that females across all ages were being “told” that a certain size and look were the only way to be attractive and desired, morphed a vision. Her goal became to enable and empower all women through education and self-compassion. Janine’s brainchild was born in 2009 as P.O.W.E.R., a business dedicated to helping women find balance through fitness, nutrition, a healthy self-nurturing attitude and a spirit of camaraderie among other women. She would entirely reconstruct how women see themselves and the role that health and personal fitness should play in their lives.

Whether training women individually or in semi-private groups called PODs, Janine’s philosophy is to build strength in a non-competitive, non-comparative, supportive environment to help each woman learn to appreciate her own beauty and power apart from social or peer group standards. Every P.O.W.E.R. woman strives to become balanced in terms of health, self-confidence, and functional strength in a demanding world. For Janine, fitness instruction is not just a career, it's her calling.
