Mecquel

Yoga Above

Mecquel is a practitioner who has been teaching yoga to adults and children since 2002. Her practice and teaching stem from her desire to know and embody truth within herself and to inspire the same in others. Mecquel's experience is that the practice of yoga, and authentic movement, is a process of melting away the layers that keep us from being able to touch, experience, and finally reside in what we really are, openness, light and love. Mecquel has her B.S. in Psychology and was a behavioral therapist for children with Autism for 5 year. She then sought to bring together changes in the mind and body as a personal trainer. It was finally in yoga that she found the perfect marriage of mind, body and spirit. She completed her teacher training at Saraswati River Yoga with Kirin... Read the profile >>

Alex Obe

P.T.S. Health and Fitness

Alex has been involved in some form athletics for as long as he can remember, “It’s simply a part of my DNA” he says. As the owner of P.T.S. Health and Fitness, Alex has cultivated a culture of “doing just a little bit more” not only within his staff but his clientele as well. There is a saying that in life, nothing worth having can be had without sacrifice. For Alex, the same holds true with fitness. “Every day we must make choices that can either maintain or derail us on our lifelong journey of achieving fitness; whatever that may be for each of us.” Whether we choose to sleep in... Alumni Ambassador Jennifer Davis

I started life as a fish. Yes, I’m a Pisces, but what I really mean is that I was in the water swimming whenever possible. I learned to swim by jumping into a pool without my floaties when I was 3. So naturally, I suppose, my first organized sport was swimming: I took lessons, competed – first on various club teams and then on the varsity team in high school, and I even taught swimming at summer camp. I loved other sports too, though: softball (varsity team in high school), tennis, downhill skiing, horse back riding, and even, every once in a while, running with my dad on the bridle path in Central Park. When I got to college, the lore of the rowing team totally captured my imagination and my heart, and I was totally consumed. There is nothing quite like rowing in a... Read the profile >>
