I took my first Bar Method class in June of 2009 and knew it was something that was going to be part of me for the rest of my life. Before Bar Method, I had always been an avid exerciser and a former marathon runner, but no matter what I did, I always had the tendency to bulk up. Workouts had also always been challenging because I suffer from scoliosis pain. A one-hour, non-impact, total body workout that was going to change my body and help manage my back pain sounded too good to be true!
Within my first 2 weeks of taking class, my daily back pain was gone, and I was hooked. Within a month, I was working the front desk at the Bar Method Chicago Lakeview studio, and within 6 months I was beginning my training to become a certified Bar Method instructor. In 18 months I was down 20 inches and had finally found what I was looking for: a longer, leaner look. I also found what I didn’t know I was looking for - a new career path.
I hold a BA in History from Bradley University, Peoria, IL and a Masters in Education from National-Louis University, Chicago, IL. After I taught for over two years in two of the Chicago studios, I teamed up with one of my fellow instructors to open our own studio in Naperville. I love that I am able to combine my love of physical fitness along with my education and corporate training experience in the studio every day. Teaching allows me to share my passion with others and see their amazing transformations inside and out! This year, I was lucky enough to guest teach in the Santa Barbara Bar Method studio, and also brought The Bar Method to Mexico at Rancho la Puerta.
When I am not at the studio teaching or taking class, I can be found walking along the Naperville Riverwalk with my husband and two cocker spaniels, Betty & Cecilia, at Yoga, or at dinner and drinks with friends around Naperville.
