When people ask, “Where did you grow up?” I like to say, “Well, I was born in Springfield, Ohio but I began to grow up upon moving to Chicago in 2000!” I moved to Chicago with a mere $148 to my name! Something so deep within me moved me to Chicago. I was 26 years “really young” with a lot of hope, faith, BIG ambitions, dreams, ideas, inspiration, a strong will and work ethic!
Upon moving to the Chicago area, I took a job working with a Chiropractor in Naperville where I was working as a Licensed Massage Therapist. It was in Naperville, Il where I met photographer, Marian Kraus. Together we opened, L’Artiste2, A Gallery of Integrated Arts. A space which would house Marian’s Photography and my Massage Therapy Practice and Yoga Studio.
Being the avid runner that I am, I was always stretching…From there sprang a natural interest of Yoga. After my first class, I came up from Savasana, inhaling as though I had just broke through the surface of the Ocean after a long swim up from the depths of the Ocean floor. I started taking as many classes as I could. Within a week I was signed up for a teacher training program at The Temple of Kriya Yoga in downtown Chicago. I was trained under a very traditional Hatha System. Through the years I have studied with many Master Teachers..my students being some of the greatest teachers yet! Yoga resonates with me much like the art of Massage and running. Today I can say with much conviction that I love the three more and more as the years pass. I love to employ my knowledge of the anatomy & physiology as well as the energetics of the body into my Hatha/Vinyasa teaching style. I believe the more students know about what is truly happening within their bodies as they practice the more empowering the practice becomes. I love being able to create awareness of the tool set each of us possess to restore balance and health within. Most recently, I have completed a Teacher Training at Core Power Yoga and am currently teaching Yoga Sculpt, which adds a whole new dynamic and energy to my teaching style! I am currently teaching at two Studio’s, Living Yoga in Aurora, Il and Prana Yoga Center in Geneva, Il!
In addition to my love of the work that never feels like work, I have a 5 ½ year old daughter Stella who is the rock star of my life! I too love to run and will compete in my first tri this spring. I savor many rich friendships, my family, a love of travel, continuing to challenge and educate myself. I love to read and paint when I make time! I love, LoVe, LOVE music and have a very eclectic palette. Two charities I see myself getting involved with are the DuPage County P.A.D.S and Habitat for Humanity.
