I live and breathe health and fitness. To me it’s a way of life that makes me feel so alive I want to share it with everyone around me. That’s why I chose to become a full time fitness professional in this industry I am so passionate about.
My interest for health and fitness really began in 1989 when I was 18 and my boyfriend at the time (now my beautiful husband), introduced me to the local gym. I was always a sporty child but the gym seemed to bring out a passion in me. It unleashed an inner energy and healthy lifestyle which opened up a new world and so my fitness career was born. In 1992 I trained to become a group fitness instructor and started teaching ‘Aerobics’ part time around my working hours. My love of the industry grew stronger each year and I was soon craving this inspiring field on a larger scale. It was in 2005 that I decided life was too short not to be living the career I really wanted so I made the change. I studied to become a Personal Trainer and gave up my full time corporate career.
That was 7 years ago and I have never looked back. Today as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor I teach and participate in everything that I am passionate about. From Bodypump to Pilates. Boxing to Bootcamp. Crossfit to Suspension Training. Running to Cycling. Shopping Centre exercise groups to Strength Training older adults and people with a disability. Whatever fitness trend I haven’t tried I will undertake and wherever my strengths lie I will teach. I love to continually learn and grow. Upgrade my skills, better my knowledge, find the latest and best ways and share with everyone. I love to train hard and step outside my comfort zone as I believe true changes happen when you are challenged and uncomfortable.
One of my favourite quotes is ‘Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment’ and this is how I grow. Not everything in life is easy, but with a dream, a desire, sheer determination and discipline we can achieve our goals. In my role as fitness coach and mentor to my clients I want to help them achieve this dream. From personal weight loss, to increased strength, health and vitality. From changing thoughts and minds to a positive, to understanding how bodies function with good nutrition and training. Through my future planned study I am passionate about passing on my increased knowledge to continually inspire, motivate, and encourage those around me to grow as individuals.
I came across lululemon athletica when they first came to Australia and opened the doors to their Chapel Street store in 2004. From the minute I stepped inside and was welcomed with such warmth I knew I was in athletic wear heaven. A brand with a difference. From my first pair of Groove Pants to my favourite Racerbacks, each week I seem to find a new design, style or colour that I just can’t live without.
I am honoured to be a part of the lululemon family. Their cultural beliefs and community spirit align with my own philosophies on life. Giving without expectation and making a difference. No matter what your age, background or ability. We need to believe in ourselves, love who we are and pass on our positive energy. Because a healthy mind, a healthy body and a healthy outlook can take us anywhere.
