Pengu Studio, Inner Power Yoga, Falls Church Pilates
Jessica came to her mat in 2004 seeking to find a sustainable workout and became a dedicated Vinyasa student. Four years later, she lost her job in the housing crisis and became a full time student of yoga. The next year she would attend an immersion and teacher training with Baron Baptiste and travel to the holy lands of Rishikesh, Haridwar and Vrindavan, India to explore the spiritual roots of yoga. In the fall of 2009 she began her 200 hour teacher training program at Flow Yoga Center in Washington, DC.
Since becoming certified, Jessica’s interests in Ashtanga and anatomy have led her to complete additional teacher training with David Kyle and to study with Dr. Judith Lassater. “What I try to impart to students is that yoga is a journey of self discovery and that journey is not always easy. However, what arises in you during practice whether perceived as good or bad will reveal your truest self and has the potential to unlock immeasurable inner growth and peace of mind when you are ready. At that point, you can fully connect with and relate to the people and the world around you.”
Jessica’s classes are friendly and challenging, and she teaches to students of all levels in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. A particularly inspiring quote from a Yoga Journal article has become her mantra as of late, “Your practice is for your students; your teaching is for you.” Author Unknown.
