Yogi Power Yoga
Piera took her first yoga class as a teenager in 1992, and while it was a memorable experience, she did not begin to practice in earnest until she found Power Yoga in 2006. Once she took that first Power Yoga class, she felt--as many devotees have described the feeling of finding their practice--as though she had come home. Her expressions of the asanas and attempts at pranayama breathing were far from perfect, but the experience as a whole felt incredibly right!
Hooked on the body-mind-spirit connection that her yoga practice was fostering, Piera pursued the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga teacher training program with Bill Raup at Baptiste-affiliate studio Power Yoga Works, hoping to broaden her understanding of yoga technique and philosophy, and to learn how to share that knowledge.
The longing to open a yoga studio--a place where yoga-based service would change lives, on whatever level that might be--was like a tinder burning in her spirit. Thanks to the encouragement of loved ones, coupled with her continuing passion for the practice, Piera held her dream of a yoga studio close to her heart, and began to visualize its fruition. Now, Yogi Power Yoga is a reality and a dream come true! Piera hopes to share her passion for yoga, so that others may tap into their own authentic nature, that they may in turn serve others, and the world may be a better place, one asana at a time.
Born and raised in Los Angeles and on the Central California Coast, Piera seeks as much yoga as possible, especially when she returns to her home state, feeling fortunate to have had the opportunity to draw insight and inspiration from practice with talented instructors including Baron Baptiste, Bikram Choudhury, Brock Cahill, Kathryn Budig and Thomas Taubman.
Piera received her BA and JD degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Adam, are blessed with the gentle, ever-loving presences of their shih tzu, Blueberry and Giorgio.
Piera is registered with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level. She is deeply grateful to her family, friends, teachers and yoga community for the loving support which guides her journey.
