Nicole came to find yoga after a running injury took her off the street, landing with an old friend on an old mat, fumbling through a few down dogs. Slowly, with perseverance, and commitment, she has come to love her asana practice. Looking back on life, Nicole doesn’t know how she survived without it. She trained the past several years with Baron Baptiste and truly appreciates the dialogue and the physicality of the Baptiste practice. It wasn’t until she committed to living her yoga each and every day that her life began to shift.
In addition to teaching yoga, Nicole teaches art at Sacred Heart School in Camden, New Jersey. It is there that she truly practices the empowerment that she finds on her mat. Partnering creativity, movement and music make sense to Nicole, especially when working with children. “Teaching comes naturally to me. It is my God given gift. It is my higher purpose to inspire, and encourage people to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others both on and off their mat.” Her love of travel has taken her all over the world, and her yoga teaching is the thread that connects Nicole to others.
Off the mat, Nicole enjoys spending time with her daughters, Gianna and Sophia and her amazing husband, Dean, who helps her understand what really matters in life: living in the moment, loving deeply and sharing that with those around us. Nicole loves the beach, the sound of the ocean and the feeling of salt water in her hair, a long late lunch in the city, and spending time laughing with friends.
Nicole’s latest project, still in the planning stages, is bringing yoga as a source of empowerment to the children of Camden. She looks forward to spending her time and energy forming a community of seekers, and bright shining lights, in a neighborhood that is often forgotten.
