Hol-Fit & Rebirth Wellness

What’s your full name? Angela Peters Where did you grow up? St. Catharines, ON When and where did you first fall in love with yoga, sports or athletics? How did you get involved? How did it make you feel when you first began? I was always involved in team sports growing up. There were never any girls in my neighbourhood so I developed a very competitive spirit at a young age and loved when I could out throw or out run the boys. I got my first gym membership when I was 16 and loved the weight room - I have always hated cardio! I found weight training to be so empowering & confidence building and became addicted to the feeling pretty quick. What is your background (education, training, etc) that allows you to do what you do today? How could somebody else... Read the profile >>

Moksha Yoga London

What’s your full name? Annette Mellor (aka Yoga Mum) Where did you grow up? Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England , UK When and where did you first fall in love with yoga, sports or athletics? How did you get involved? How did it make you feel when you first began? At a young age, I was always involved in sports... everything from being a member of the high school swim and netball teams to throwing javelin and shot put. As a young adult, I continued swimming, running and also trained to teach fitness classes (Jane Fonda ruled!). When my two children were toddlers, my interest moved to body building and I truly loved working with "free" weights. I had the privilege of training alongside some of England's National champions!! Later in life I found meditation and Moksha... Read the profile >>

What’s your full name? Brandon Michael Laan Where did you grow up? London, ON When and where did you first fall in love with sports or athletics? How did you get involved? How did it make you feel when you first began? I fell in love with sport between the ages of 10 and 12 when I realized I wasn't good but could be great if I put in the work. I got involved with running as a means to get ready for the basketball season. My high school coach (Ms.P.) was the person who convinced me to run track. I blame her for my addiction. What is your background (education, training, etc) that allows you to do what you do today? How could somebody else learn to do what you do? I have used myself as a research subject. I am also fully immersed in the running space. Therefore, in order... Read the profile >>

Lisa Shackelton

Yoga Shack

While yoga has been a passion for the last twelve years, it was my dance lessons at age four that had me hooked on movement. Seventeen years of dance training evolved into a decade of teaching aerobics, dance, and a lot of ultimate frisbee. When a yoga teacher taught after my rigourous step class I was curious to check it out. I quickly noticed improvements in my strength, agility, and mental focus and kept returning to the quiet strength of yoga. That curiosity which began in 1997 has steadily evolved into a regular practice of Iyengar, Bikram, Moksha, Ashtanga, Pilates, and Mindfulness Meditation yoga. Fast forward 12 years and I’ve returned home to London. I am in the process of rehabilitating a cervical spine fusion. After my car accident I had a lot of time to reevaluate how I...
