Rachel has been working with creative movement and yoga for more than a decade.
After training with the Alvin Ailey Dance School and completing a BA in choreography, Rachel lived
and worked for many years, as a professional dancer in New York City.
Rachel travelled to India in 2005, where she completed her first teachers training.
Since then, she has immersed herself in the dynamic yoga practice and has completed several 200hr certifications in addition to developing her own unique Vinyasa style.
Rachel’s 2 year move to Berlin in February 2010 was the inspiration and playground for Funk the Buddha: her global yoga project: infusing art, music, yoga and cultural exchange together, to bring yoga out of the studio and into the playground of our cities.
Although London now remains her base, she continues to teach internationally, and her years as a dancer, teaching yoga, and love for the bustle of big cities has inspired Rachel to create
a fun and challenging yoga practice that celebrates and compliments our creative eclectic lifestyles.
Rachel’s class schedule:
- Monday: 19:30--20:45 : vinyasa flow level 2 @ Evolve
- Wednesday: 13:00-14:00: power hour @ Evolve
- Thursday: 09:30-11:00: vinyasa flow level 2 @ Evolve
- Friday: 19:30-20:30: happy hour yoga @ Frame
FUNK THE BUDDHA
Funk The Buddha is a hip fusion of yoga and live music sessions, which Rachel founded in 2010 - taking yoga out of the studio and interweaving art, cultural spaces and underground musical talent into the yoga experience.
The city is our playground.. so our yoga gatherings explore a new location, scenery and sound to keep us inspired and yoga to keep us fit and flexible.
Music is our mantra, so every event introduces a new Dj, musician or band to keep us moving and sampling different Nada (sound) inspirations.
Be prepared to move! Funk the buddha’s yoga is dynamic, sweat inducing and fun filled.
The dynamic flow sequences explore this deep connection to music and creativity, while keeping things fun and accessible to even the biggest yoga sceptic.
The goal: turn yoga into your alternative saturday night! creating a social platform for interaction, appreciation and enjoyment of everything urban, funky and need-to-yoga-know.
Building a community vibe and supporting creative and inspiring expressions of our Yoga = Union ethos.
