Personal responsibility creates global change. Maybe you've heard us mention that before? It's relevant to introduce our focus to eliminate waste, just as it's relevant to our day-to-day business operations. If only one person is responsible for the success of an effort in global change, how successful do you think that person will be? Consider the outcome if you take the passion and energy of over 2,600 people and direct their commitment to responsibility and integrity towards a singular focus. What a powerful way to create change and develop lasting legacies.

Our first focus is to eliminate waste at lululemon. How? By removing anything that does not add value to our company, our guests and our communities.

This specific focus was identified based on the need for change, the impact on our global communities, and our ability to create immediate and lasting improvements. Our Focus is the big environmental goal and where the lululemon community will direct their energies.

To properly set our long-term objectives, we've got to understand where we are at the moment. We've worked with a team of environmental specialists to measure lululemon's environmental footprint. This information has pointed us to future targets and areas of improvement in our six main waste streams:

  • Our factories: (1) fabric waste
  • Our support centres: (2) paper (3) packaging (4) garbage waste
  • Our stores: (5) product end-of-life and (6) store construction waste

Beginning in summer 2009 we will provide updates here on lululemon.com and in our stores, sharing our accomplishments with you as we work to eliminate waste from lululemon's daily practices.
