Micki’s passion for fitness began at the age of 5 when she began dancing and continued through college where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. Soon after graduation, Micki launched into the corporate world and was successful in sales. All of that success in the corporate world took Micki’s focus off of her own health. She had 2 children and let her health slip even more. Weighing in at 194 pounds, Micki needed to make a change. She remembered how it felt when she was fit in her 20’s and longed for that feeling again. Nothing could stop her. It was December, 2006. She had 1 & 3 year-old daughters and she was now in her mid-30’s. Micki was determined and ready. With old dance injuries and knee surgeries behind her, what could she do that was low-impact and hi-intensity? Cycling! That is what she did! She took her mountain bike & her little ones with her in the trailer outside when she could and began taking Indoor Cycle classes at 24 Hour Fitness. Her kids could come with her and stay in Kid’s Club while she worked out! It was tough to get organized and fit everything in at first but Micki realized she was a better mom if she did something for herself. That extra 1 hour/day away from her family would give her many more years with them as a healthy mom & wife. It took 1 year , but she dropped 50 lbs!!
Throughout her journey, Micki set short-term and long-term fitness goals. She feels setting goals is the key to making a change. One of those long-term goals was to become a trainer and help others reach their goals. In October, 2007 she accomplished that goal and began teaching Cycling at 24 Hour Fitness clubs. Micki’s teaching style is that of positive reinforcement and encouragement. She encourages her cyclists to push themselves beyond their comfort zone so they can achieve their goals, whatever they may be. The only expectation in Micki’s class is that you give your best!! Micki believes there is no quick-fix to being fit and is inspired everyday when she sees people making a change and taking charge of their lives.
One of the “dream” goals Micki had was to become a Lululemon Ambassador!!!! Micki is living proof that when you pursue your passion, give your best & set goals, your dreams will come true!
