Christina Schanta is originally from Baton Rouge, LA but received the majority of her dance training in Phoenix, AZ. She trained primarily at the School of Ballet Arizona but also attended summer programs at Boston Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, and the Bolshoi Academy in Vail, Colorado.
Christina joined her first professional company, Ballet Arizona, at the age of 17 before moving to Houston and joining Ad Deum Dance Company in 2000. As a formal principal dancer with Ad Deum she has had the privilege of touring extensively both nationally and internationally.
Christina has been teaching at Boni's Dance and Performing Arts Studio in The Woodlands, TX since 2001 and has been choreographing for Boni's En Toure, a nationally recognized competitive dance team, since 2004. She became the Director of Ballet at Boni’s in 2005 and enjoys directing the annual Woodland's Dance Company Nutcracker. Christina has also had the privilege of teaching ballet and modern at various schools around the Houston area and programs such as Ad Deum Summer Dance Intensive, the Dance Revolution Convention in Dallas, and Houston Ballet's Summer Program. Christina is also the proud mother of two daughters, Sera and Julia.
