Helen Terry has a B.Ed. in Physical Education with Special Needs & M.Ed. in Exercise Physiology. She is a certified black belt NIA instructor & trainer. Helen is an international speaker/presenter: Helen has tremendous enthusiasm for movement and motivating others, she has an infectious effect on those who attend her sessions. Helen offers regular classes, workshops and Nia teacher trainings. Helen is married with one child, Liliana (9).
As an international Mind and Body Fitness Specialist, Helen Terry has presented in the UK, US, Japan, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. She is a certified Black Belt Nia Teacher and Nia Trainer, bringing 21 years experience in teaching to her students. Helen is the founder of NiaMoves Houston, a mind body spirit institute that offers classes, workshop and trainings in techniques like Nia, Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi. Helen also offers holistic methods for stress management within businesses, hospitals, churches and schools. Helen was instrumental in bringing Nia to Houston's Saint Luke's Episcopal Hospital (home of the Texas Heart Institute), where she adopted the Nia technique as the prescribed exercise for cardiac rehabilitation patients.
Helen's philosophy is that "fitness should be pleasurable and never feel like punishment. By treating our bodies with respect and harmony, our bodies will respond to our needs and demands in better and better ways. The only limitations within the boundary of our possibilities are the ones we create." Helen loves to connect with others and her enthusiasm for movement has an infectious effect on those who attend her classes, workshops and intensive trainings.
