Maria Merrill is the owner and founder of Yoga Ananda Yoga Studio, an affiliated Baptiste Power Vinyasa Studio and currently the only one in Houston. She is a certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa yoga teacher and has been teaching this style of yoga since 2005. This past year she has assisted Baron at his Level 1 Teacher Training Bootcamps in Hawaii and the Catskills and looks forward to growing the Baptiste community in Houston. Believing that yoga studios can be a "third space" where students can create community and feel at home as they create their own transformation through the practice of yoga, Maria is honored to be part of the Lululemon Ambassador team as the Lulu culture also offers yogis, dancers, runners and all "students of life" a place to create friendships, have new experiences and make goals and commitments for themselves as they pursue their passions. Maria is a E-RYT with the Yoga Alliance and offers a teacher training program at the 200 hr level.
Maria also has a Master in Fine Arts and enjoyed teaching Drawing at the college level as well as to children and teens. Yoga teaches us an inward way of seeing and drawing teaches us to see clearly with open eyes. Either way we are richer for the experience.
