At age 16, I started my first job at a nursing home taking care of the elderly. From there I pursued my career and went to Northeastern University for Nursing. During this time I worked as a certified home health care aide and took care of patients with multiple sclerosis and brain stem injuries.

For years I participated in the 25 mile bike race for Multiple Sclerosis. I have also walked the Jimmy Fund 26.2 mile walk for childhood cancer annually.

At 23, I married Mike, a police officer, and was fortunate at the time to purchase a house on the south shore. I had my first child a year and a half later. Four children later, my nursing career had to be put aside to raise my family. Over the years I would walk 25-30 miles a week with the kids strapped in the front of the double stroller I couldn’t live without.

In 2001, I joined the YMCA for kickboxing. Three years later I was teaching it. I still teach now in 2008 and have received my black belt. Hot power yoga is also a favorite. That has brought such calmness into my busy life with four children.

My recent love is total body conditioning and bootcamp which I teach a few times a week. When I am not teaching I enjoy taking other classes.

I love to exercise, if I’m not doing it, I’m taking about it! I try to push my classes to work hard. “Get the thoughts out of your head, you can do it,” I tell them.
