Laurie has lived in Atlanta since 2002, and is very active in the competitive running scene. A 2008 Olympic Trials qualifier in the marathon, Laurie has competed in multiple marathons and has a PR of 2:44:03 (6:15 pace per mile for 26.2 miles). She has been the top Georgian in the Peachtree Road Race three times and is presently training for the USA women's marathon championships in NYC this fall. Laurie ran xc and track at the University of Arkansas and got her MBA from Georgia Tech. Laurie is a board member of the Atlanta Track Club, a xc coach at Marist High School, and works for Sparrow Pond Construction. She is married to college teammate Nathan Knowles, and they had their first son, cooper, in January of 2010.
