Life Time Fitness (Atlanta, Alpharetta, Mountain Brook)
As a former figure skater, Mila Burgess learned, early on, about the importance of balance, stability and flexibility. She took her first yoga class after hearing that it would not only improve all of these things, but also, that it was a "great workout". What she quickly learned, however, was that yoga is not just exercises on a mat but, rather, a practice for life that has become an integral part of her lifestyle.
As a former school teacher and principal with a passion for fitness, teaching group exercise seemed like the perfect marriage of interests for Mila. She often jokes that when she began teaching group fitness, her only qualification was her ability to put together a good playlist. She did, however, become a licensed group fitness professional, with certifications in primary group exercise as well as indoor cycling and water fitness. Mila is also a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher, having completed her 200-hour training through Jonny Kest's LifePower Yoga. Additionally, Mila has experience as a group fitness manager, overseeing group fitness, yoga and endurance programming for an Atlanta area fitness facility.
When not practicing or teaching yoga or indoor cycling, Mila enjoys spending time with her friends and family, hiking, cycling, reading, cooking and, of course, putting together good playlists.
