Cheryl Crawford

Decatur Hot Yoga and Pilates

Cheryl loves teaching children. She started her career focusing on elementary education and taught in the classroom for twelve years with the Fulton County School System before taking a mentoring position as a Reading and Curriculum Specialist. In 1998, the birth of her triplet girls began her journey as a Mom and it was at this time she started to practice yoga.

After three years of balancing motherhood and yoga, she decided to marry her passion for teaching children with her dedication towards yoga. She became a certified YogaKids instructor in 2003 and quickly moved on to become a Certified YogaKids Trainer. She was instrumental in developing the YogaKids Tools for Schools program and loves training school teachers from all over the world. She currently serves as a Foundations and Certification Trainer as well as a "Teachers with Tools" coordinator for YogaKids International.

Cheryl is a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance and is certified to teach YogaKids, Radiant Child, Laughter Yoga, Correlation Vinyasa Yoga, and Hot Core Power Yoga. She has been teaching at Decatur Yoga and Pilates since it opened its doors in 2003. She recently co-created two unique classes…“Ha Ha Hot” and “Yoga for Stiff Guys” . “Ha Ha Hot” will keep you laughing at life, yourself, your family, your boss, the dog and any other reason you might find yourself in need of the healing powers of hot yoga. “Yoga For Stiff Guys” was created for all men who tell her they would love to come to yoga but they are too tight.

Always active within the schools, Cheryl has volunteered her time at her daughter’s elementary school to introduce yoga into the classroom. She initiated an after school “Yoga Club” which organically spawned the concept of the “Grounded Kids”… this program unites children’s and adult yoga, delivering a unique experience for ages 10 and up. She certifies kids to be “Grounded” through laughter, yoga and service.

Cheryl has found that wherever you are, be it a classroom, a faculty or PTA meeting, or the grocery store, it is essential to create positive energy. Teaching kids to be responsible for creating that energy in the classroom is very powerful. Her dream is to spread the gift of yoga to children everywhere.

Do one thing a day that scares you.
