Amanda McGown

Hot Yoga Plus Cool Springs

I have the heart and soul of an artist. I am passionate and I love deeply. I have known searing pain, and I have known immeasurable joy. And it takes living through both to know who you truly are as a person. I have spent time in the academic world, the corporate world, the creative world, and finally…I have made my home in the yoga world. My greatest desire is to help others on their mat find their inner-strength, the will and ability to press on when their days are dark and their world is grim, because all of us come to yoga for healing at some point in time. Hot Yoga Plus

I have my 230hr teaching certification from Asheville Yoga Center, getting to study under Stephanie Keach, Shala Worsley, & Joe Taft. It was the most trans-formative, challenging and rewarding thing I have done in my life thus far. What started as a father daughter bonding experience, when I was 16, has turned into a lifelong practice. Each moment brings me into a deeper awareness of the phenomenal effects yoga has on the body, mind and spirit. I come to my mat and I practice opening, physically & energetically. I practice compassion for myself and others. I practice gratitude, for every inhale & exhale. I practice patience & acceptance. Yoga is my practice. I am transparent, never expecting life to be perfect, my choice only to have a positive attitude. I learn from the... Read the profile >>

Tennessee Kettlebell

I am a runner who was looking for a way to supplement his running with strength training. After being sidelined several times by injury, I was in need of a serious overhaul in my training regimen. I read about different forms of cross training in running magazines and on the internet but was unable to find a program that I could stick with. I found mild success with some barbell programs but those required too much time. Instead of spending hours a week at a gym and working only a few muscle groups each day, I searched for something quick, efficient and something that would work the entire body. A friend suggested I try kettlebell and a year and a half later, I was the newest RKC certified instructor at Tennessee Kettlebell. The gains I have seen since starting kettlebell have been...
