Andrew joined the Gears Bike Shop team six years ago, bringing his expertise in snowboarding, adventure racing and mountain biking to the operation. He made his debute as an indoor cycling instructor teaching local highschool ‘phys-ed’ classes. The combination of Gears’ well-equipped, amphitheatre-style studio and this hobby-dj’s passion for a strong soundtrack-to-sweat-by ensured his early success.
A retired provincial gymnast, program developer, head coach, and a graduate of the Dr. Pat S.M.A.R.T. training program, Andrew focuses his life, classes and participants on healthy lifestyles. He does this by developing well-structured classes which provide a challenging cycling experience for everyone – from first-timers to experienced pros. Andrew believes that Gears’ Indoor Cycling Studio is not just home to great classes, but to a community of people commited to living healthier, happier lives.
Through cycling (indoor and outdoor) Andrew has focussed and attained his personal health goals and transformed his life. Leading community group rides, both mountain and road, Andrew is recognized throughout his community as a leader. Now, teaching 5 classes a week, he continues in his fitness while sharing his knowledge and experience with others.
Andrews’s personal accomplishments over the past 7 years have inspired many around him. He is a believer in a catch phrase: “It is all about ordinary people, doing extra ordinary things!” He is humbled by the response to his classes and will continue to work hard at inspiring others. “It is a gratifying experience when you can inspire ordinary people like yourself to strive to improve their overall health and lifestyle”. Through positive example, Andrew demonstrates that there are no boundaries except for the ones you place on yourself. If you have a goal and the right drive, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to!
