how to measure

Britt is our lead product educator and she knows how to wear the pants. Watch this video for insider tips on how to get the perfect fit. (Hint: it's all in the hips.)

bust - Start by placing a measuring tape around the largest part of your bust. The tape should be flat but not too snug. For sports bra measurements, please visit our bra chart.

waist - Your natural waist lies between your bottom ribs and hip bones. To measure, breathe deeply, relax your stomach and lie the tape measure flat around your waist, allowing for a ¼ inch of slack.

hip - To achieve the most accurate hip measurement, find the widest point of your hips and place the measuring tape around. The hip bone often isn't the widest point - it's one to two inches lower, where your butt is at its fullest.

inseam - Friends are helpful for this one. Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart in running shoes. Measure from the very top of your inner leg to the bottom of your inner ankle; repeat this process on your left leg and average out to achieve your most accurate inseam length. You may want to err on the longer-side - short pants aren't as cool as they sound.

fit guidelines

ready to wear - The majority of lululemon garments are preshrunk to ensure a quality first-time fit. This helps guarantee that what you measure for is what you receive - and as a bonus, it helps prevent things like zippers buckling up and other assorted dryer-related mishaps.

finding the right fit - luon is designed to have a matte finish. If there is an underlying sheen that reflects the light, this means the fit is too snug (to see the sheen we're talking about, stretch the luon fabric width-wise with your hands). lululemon clothing should fit like a comfy second skin but shouldn't be restrictive in movement - after all, you need to do headstands, sweat, and chase goals in your new item!

hemming - If you live in an area that doesn't have a lululemon store nearby and need to get your pants hemmed, start with a trusted tailor. Simply put, make sure your tailor looks at the style of stitch that your item was hemmed with originally - this sewing was chosen for the fabric and intended movement of your piece. All lululemon items are hemmed with double-stitching. Have questions? Go to your nearest lululemon store or call our Guest Education Centre toll-free at 1.877.263.9300.

how to measure

chest - place the measuring tape around the largest part of your chest (often this is around your nipples). The tape should be flat but not too tight.

waist - your waist is just above your belly button, between your bottom ribs and pelvic bones. Breathe deeply, relax your stomach and wrap the tape measure around your waist, allowing for a ¼ inch of slack. Once you know your waist size, read the fit guidelines below to find the right size.

finding the right fit - if you have a waist measurement of 33" you are most likely going to need a size 34 pair of lululemon pants. This is because we have designed our pants to sit 2 to 3 inches below your natural waist. Looking for a good rule of thumb when it comes to fit? Measure your waist and add an inch.

stuck in the middle? - If you think you have a 34" waist measurement, you will find yourself between sizes at lululemon. Here are a few questions to ask yourself before you commit to a size:

  • how do I want these pants to fit?
  • what will I be doing in these pants?
  • am I a true size 34 or am I one Deluxe Burger away from a size 35?

complimentary hemming - bring your pants into any lululemon store and we will be happy to hem them for you at no charge. bra size guide

To perfect your bra fit, follow these steps and be sure to do a jump test after you put it on. Ready? Set? Let's (not) bounce.

how to measure

Wear a thin, unlined bra. If you can, get someone else to measure you. If you measure yourself, stand in front of a mirror and practice perfect posture to make sure the tape measure is parallel to the floor.

step 1: measure your
ribcage (for band size)

Run a tape measure around your ribcage right under your bust.

step 2: measure your
bust (for cup size)

Place the tape measure under your arms around the fullest part of your chest.

fine-tune your fit

  • your recommended bra size is a starting point - it's more important how the bra feels on your body
  • every bra should fit snug - wearing it too loose means not enough support (and gravity will take its toll quicker)
  • bra support comes mostly from the band, it's important it's quite fitted to your ribcage
  • a proper fit is crucial for breast support, so be patient and adjust your bra size up or down until you nail it!
