luon®

This is lululemon's signature, original fabric primarily used in the yoga lines for women and men. Here are your need-to-know attributes about our favorite fabric:

luon
  • luon® is wicking, offers 4-way stretch and is preshrunk
  • the high percentage of LYCRA® in the fabric means it will not stretch or bag out
  • the nylon used in luon® is made to feel cottony soft at the yarn stage which is why it offers such great coverage

Variations include: brushed luon®, luon® light, luon® Sheer Jersey, Rulu™ (aka Running luon), Rulu™ light, Denim luon®, Reversible luon®, Space Dyed luon®, Heathered luon®, Pique luon®, Static Heathered luon®.

All have the same performance characteristics as regular luon® but may feel slightly different. This is because to achieve these different looks we may add polyester to the nylon/ LYCRA® blend or knit the fabric in a slightly different way.

luxtreme®

lululemon's fastest wicking fabric, Luxtreme® is primarily used in running gear for women and men. The moisture wicking is inherent in the fabric so will last for the life of the garment. This makes it great for super sweaty exercise! The nylon used in Luxtreme® is made to feel silky and smooth. We may choose Luxtreme®'s lightweight qualitlies over luon® depending on the intended purpose of a garment.

Variations include: brushed Power Luxtreme®, Power Luxtreme® and Pearl Luxtreme® which has a metallic sheen (cool right?). All variations have the same performance characteristics as regular Luxtreme® but may feel slightly different.

tech fleece

Primarily used in our running gear for colder weather, Tech Fleece has a brushed finish on the inside to give a super soft feel. The breathable nylon wick moisture to the outside of the garment to leave you cozy and dry. Think of it as cold weather luon®.

transluxent™

We engineered this lightweight fabric so we could design race-ready underwear that would stay in place. This moisture-wicking fabric provides amazing shape retention and a silky feel. The high spandex content allows for precision laser cutting that helps eliminate VPL (visible panty lines).

seamless

Seamless fabric is a nylon, spandex blend used in some of our yoga and running gear for women. This lightweight and breathable fabric has no side-seams so it helps keep irritating chafe in check. Ventilation knit throughout the garment makes it feel like a weightless second-skin so you can breathe and bend seamlessly.

swim

All of our swimwear is made with soft and breathable Swim fabric. The excellent UPF rating (50+) provides ultimate sun protection and four-way stretch construction helps the fabric move with you so you can go ahead and make a splash.

swift family

swift

Primarily used in our run lines, Swift is so lightweight that it feels positively ethereal. It offers stretch for freedom of movement and wicks moisture away, keeping you cool and dry. We choose the different fibre blends to create our Swift fabric depending on how we want the fabric to look and feel.

Variations include: Recycled Polyester Swift, Reflective Swift and Ultra-Light Swift. Blending different fibres together may change the feel of the fabric slightly but the result is a fabric that is moisture wicking, breathable, preshrunk and lightweight. Swift with DWR loses moisture wicking properties but makes up for it by being water-resistant.

silverescent® family

silverescent®

Anti-stink - need we say more. We use X-STATIC® - The Silver Fiber®, to create our anti-bacterial Silverescent® fabric. Synthetics tend to hold onto odour-causing bacteria even after washing. The silver in our tops inhibits bacteria growth.

Variations include: Silverescent® Jacquard Mesh, seamless Silverescent® (tubes of Silverescent® fabric with no side seams) and Silverescent® luon®, which is moisture wicking and preshrunk too.

meshes and liners family

circle mesh

Primarily used in our run gear for both women and men, we chose this fabric because it's lightweight, stretchy and provides more coverage than traditional mesh. Circle mesh is moisture wicking, breathable and has a naturally derived anti-stink finish called Chitosan (derived from oceanic crustaceans, really!) that provides long-lasting odour protection. Chitosan inhibits bacterial growth. So you can make it smell in the moment but what makes this material special is that it won't retain scent over time.

COOLMAX®

We use COOLMAX® as a liner in our tanks, bras and shorts (men's and women's). It feels soft against the skin and offers superior wicking, which is great during heavy duty sweat sessions - and it's also stretchy and preshrunk. COOLMAX® is made from 100% polyester. What makes it inherently wicking is the way the fibres are engineered to channel out moisture.

power mesh

Power Mesh is used as a liner in tanks, bras, and shorts. It holds you in and breathes at the same time, which makes it a dual-powered favorite. You may also see power mesh inserted underneath the arms or behind the knees for extra ventilation.

stripe mesh

This is a new variation of our Circle Mesh fabric, only with (yup, you guessed it) STRIPES. The fabric is slightly heavier but works in the same way as Circle Mesh - it contains a naturally derived finish called Chitosan that makes the fabric anti-stink (i.e. the fabric won't hold the sweat smell after you wear it, making it great for super sweaty activities).

natural blend family

boolux®

There are two sides to every story and this fabric is no exception. Boolux® gear is reversible thanks to its double-knit construction. A blend of rayon derived from bamboo, TENCEL® and cashmere make this lightweight fabric warm, soft and breathable.

cotton fleece

Primarily used in our men's and women's hoodies, Cotton Fleece is a blend of cotton and polyester. Famous for its fleecy inside and cozy-ness, we chose Cotton Fleece for our men's and women's hoodies because it's thick, warm and durable. It's also preshrunk for a perfect fit and hassle-free laundering.

pima cotton

Primarily used in our T-shirts for both women and men, Pima cotton jersey is a luxuriously lightweight fabric. It's ideal for yoga or gym workouts because it is highly breathable. What makes it different than regular cotton is its properties: it has unusually long, silky fibres, which gives it an unbelievably soft feel. In addition, it has spandex for great shape retention and is preshrunk for a perfect fit.

stretch french terry

This is our special blend of breathable, comfortable cotton paired with LYCRA® to help the fabric retain its shape. Stretch French Terry might just be our most comfortable sweater material. This fabric is preshrunk to avoid buckling zippers and bunching fabric.

sweater knit

This fabric is a blend made with rayon derived from bamboo and cashmere. This fabric is ideal for yoga because it is lightweight, breathable and still keeps you cozy, from full Vinyasa sequences to a serene Savasana.

TENCEL® and TENCEL® Silk Jersey

TENCEL® fabric is made with wood pulp cellulose and is super soft, lightweight and breathable. TENCEL® fibres have a smoother and more supple surface than traditional wool or cotton. TENCEL® has exceptionally good moisture absorption and rapid moisture release. TENCEL® Silk Jersey fabric with a unique texture, similar to raw silk, makes a great base layer and helps to keep you dry in even the most sweaty of yoga classes.

vitasea

lululemon's Vitasea® fabric is made with SEACELL®, the yarn derived from seaweed, and blended with cotton and spandex. The end result is an ultra soft, preshrunk fabric that retains its shape and stays soft after you wash it. We use it primarily in T-shirts for women and men.

outerwear & insulation family

ascent

We primarily use Ascent in the men's low impact shorts and pants. This nylon/spandex blend is durable and has a bit of stretch so it still moves with you. It offers wicking which makes it great for walking, hiking or golf.

atmosphere

This Two-Layer Twill is great because it's lightweight and breathable so you can layer underneath it for added warmth. This water-resistant, wind-resistant fabric helps keep you warm and dry.

cire puffy

This lightweight outer layer is water- and wind-resistant to help protect against the elements. Cire Puffy fabric is often paired with goose-down because of its ability to keep feathers in and cold air out.

glyde

Glyde is made from 100% Polyester and is DWR coated, so it will be water- and wind-resistant to protect you from light wind and rain. It's also lightweight and soft.

Variations include: Perforated Glyde (mostly seen in areas that need venting).

rip-stop

We use rip-stop in a variety of our vests and jackets. The nylon fabric is coated with a Durable Water-Repellant (DWR) finish to keep out drops and splashes. The rip-stop construction means that if you snag it on a branch and make a hole, that hole won't become a tear.

softshell

Softshell refers to three layers of fabric held together: face (outside), membrane (middle layer), and the inside.

stretch element

The breathable, woven nylon wick moisture to the outside of the garment to leave you cozy and dry. We've engineered spandex into the fabric so that it will keep its shape and so that you can stretch without stretching out your clothes.

two-layer twill

One of the best jacket fabrics around! Two-Layer Twill is great because it's lightweight and you can layer underneath it for added warmth, extending how long into the winter you can wear jackets made with this material. A waterproof membrane is glued to the inside of the fabric, which keeps the water out while allowing for breathability.
