Christen Bakken wandered into a yoga studio for the first time in 1998. At the time, Christen was an open vessel for the power of the practice on and off the mat- the most amazing thing, is she still is. In 2006 she began her yoga teaching journey and since then reinvests in trainings and workshops to strengthen her craft each year. Being a student is as important, if not more important to her, than being a teacher.
She opened Yoga for Young Warriors in 2008 where she teaches yoga to children and families. The mission of the business is to share the benefits of yoga to children in a playful and engaging setting. Animal noises and laughter are not unusual noises in her studio space. YFYW has expanded into many schools, yoga studios, and even into a teacher training program. Christen’s primary goal is to listen to the hearts of children and never forget her own inner child.
Christen’s adult style is called Rockin’ Bhakti. She loves to mix up ancient yoga tradition with real, energized, and inspired instruction. Classes include vigorous flow, big heart opening, and a little bit of ecstatic chanting. In addition to yoga classes, she also teaches yoga sculpt and a couple of cycling fusion classes. Shaking is change making, so any class with Christen will likely shake your body, mind, and spirit.
