Lisa Brooking

Lisa Brooking is a fulltime registered nurse specialized in cardiac care. Her passion for heart health goes beyond the workplace as she competes as an elite distance runner. Lisa ran varsity track and cross country running during her university years in Ontario. Since moving to the west coast to start her nursing career, Lisa spends her leisure time discovering the many wonders British Columbia has to offer.
Trail running with her golden retriever, road cycling, climbing the Grouse Grind, and distance swimming are just a few ways Lisa lives a healthy lifestyle. Aside from her leisure activities, Lisa trains diligently and is focused on setting a new personal best with each half marathon she enters. Lisa strives to remember it is also important to have fun along the way. She is successful in doing this by encouraging others, and sharing her knowledge of heart health always with a smile on her face. Lisa believes health promotion and disease prevention are two small steps on the journey to making the world a better place.
Lisa enjoys sharing her passion for the sport through encouraging friends, family, and colleagues to start running. Lisa is also always willing to answer questions and provide encouragement to those starting out on their path to better health. In the near future, Lisa will be embarking on a new adventure as she returns to school for her critical care certification prior to starting on the intensive care unit at Royal Columbian Hospital. Athletically, Lisa dreams of one day representing Canada on the world stage.
