I'm off to a morning and afternoon of much needed girlfriend time. I have a group of friends who make an effort to take turns planning a monthly event. This month I planned a brunch and then pottery painting. I am looking forward to the stories and laughter we'll be inevitably sharing.

I am most lucky to have these women in my life. I met them all through lululemon and they have each been instrumental in my successes. They are my cheerleaders and supporters. They consistently hold me accountable to my goals and dreams.

In this race that we call life, who are your coaches, team mates and supporters?

Elim, I am absolutely loving having this blog to look forward to everyday. This one in particular gave me an idea for my Bachelorette party this summer. My girlfriends keep asking me what I would like to do but as I do not drink, it is hard to know what to tell them. Now I will tell them I want to go pottery painting (I used to always go and LOVED it- so relaxing). Here’s to great friendships which keep us going!

My older brother is my best friend and coach. He trained me for a half marathon even after he got injured and couldn’t run it with me. He’s my hero.

Now I feel all shallow for wanting to know about your scarf, ha. I read a quote once that said friends are the family we choose. I love that because I moved to a small town and the women there were instrumental in taking me in and making me one of their own. P.S. I still want to know about the scarf:)

Katie: Your post made me tear up, thank you so much for sharing. Which half marathon did you complete?

Jessica, Michelle, Claudine and Doreen: The scarf is by Isn’t That Knit here in Vancouver BC and she can be reached at isntthatknit@gmail.com. I had recieved one for Christmas (the cream colored one you’ve seen in earlier posts) and have become…quite obsessed myself with them.

They are the warmest scarves I have ever owned and in sudden wind or rain, I can pull it over my head like a hood for some protection. I also like that there are no “ends” so they don’t get tangled in anything.

Claudine: I very much liked your quote, it reminded me of what my dad always told me growing up and how careful I should be in choosing friends. The older I get the more I cherish my relationships with my girlfriends.

Elim- I’m running in the Davis Stampede on Feb 7.
He was supposed to compete with me but his injury sidelined him.
He Continues to inspire me everyday with his determination not only to get healthy (tendinitis of the hip abductor) but to see me succeed.
I ran 11.5 miles yesterday and every week it’s a new mountain I’ve conquered! I can’t wait for the race but the journey has been more fulfilling than I can describe.
I also get to cross off one of my lululemon goalkeeper goals pretty soon. I wanted to run a half marathon by October 2010. Thanks to Chris though. Maybe next years goal will be a full marathon!

Elim!
I ran my 1/2 marathon yesterday! And in record time. I apparently bolted out of the starting gate running 9:44 min miles and kept my pace around 10:14 until mile 11 when I finally slowed a little. Over all I averaged 10:30min miles! (Much faster than my previous long runs that had been averaging a FULL minute slower!)
I was so excited to have finished! And Chris was waving at me from the starting line, mile 8 and at the finish line. My new lululemon water bottle was even there!
