tata tamer test drive

staying put

After receiving feedback from lots of athletes in the fit rooms about the Ta Ta Tamer II, I wanted to share a blog post about its fit and function. However, since my tatas are pretty tame to begin with, I turned to fellow educator, Caroline, for her expertise on the matter. Here’s what Caroline had to say about her experience:

As a tata-blessed athlete, I’ve grown used to double-layering my sports bras in order to adequately support and cover my favorite ladies. When the Ta Ta Tamer II hit Evanston, I had my doubts about the ability of this single sports bra to overcome the power of two sports bras. However, since I am committed to doing one thing a day that scares me, I agreed to put the Ta Ta Tamer II to the ultimate test.

After hardcore workouts with two of my favorite Evanston trainers, I am delighted to report that not only did the Ta Ta Tamer II work its magic, but it actually outperformed my (now retired) regimen of layering my sports bras.

Why I Love This: Ta Ta Tamer II

• Without compromising support, the TT2 creates shape instead of smashing down my chest. I do have two of them, after all.
• Thanks to luxtreme and a mesh panel in the front, the TT2 has inherent moisture wicking properties, keeping me cool and dry in the areas where I sweat the most.
• The option to criss-cross the straps in back gives added support, takes the weight off my shoulders, and makes it possible to wear the TT2 under racerback-style tanks.
• I never thought I’d be able to say it, but there was a moment doing my boxing workout that I actually forgot I had boobs!

Finally. Comfort, coverage, and support from a single sports bra!

TaTa for now,
Caroline

*Please note: Criss-crossing the straps is a new feature on the newer Ta Ta Tamers that will be hitting your local stores later this season.

  3. I have the TTT and TTT2 and think it’s the BEST sports bra ever!! Even had my size, which is usually impossible to find (32DD)!!! Way to go lululemon design team!!!

  4. THANK YOU Lululemon for the Ta Ta Tamer II !!! Not only did it make me realize how much my old (supposedly top-of-the-line) sports bras were hindering a decent workout/run, it has been the #1 reason I’ve been able to take my endurance to the next level. It has my vote for the best invention of 2009!

  5. Love the cross-straps! This was one of my recommendations after a grueling 8 miler on my treadmill. That has a mirror in front of it. Playing with the strap positions and watching seeing how it helped!
Can’t wait to get my hands on one of these…maybe in time for the Marine Corps Marathon on 10/25??

  9. Okay, that’s it, I have to try one of these. I’m a “double layer jog bra” girl right now … I don’t actually care if I have a uniboob so long as they don’t HURT when I run …. got lots of training coming up for the Royal Victoria!

  11. I bought a Ta Ta Tamer II today, and definitely wish I had a better experience in my Lululemon store! The girl who suggested it to me was totally helpful and friendly, and let me know that the fitting room ladies were quite knowledgeable and would be happy to help out with sizing issues if I had any. I’m a 36C and my first try the fit was awful. There was spillage and the band felt horribly tight. So I asked for a size up, and while the band felt more comfortable, my ta ta’s were definitely not being tamed. I consulted the ladies and their best answer for me was that either the size up was labelled wrong or my boobs were just completely abnormal. Not impressed. The service I got in the fitting room was just awful! However, after I decided to fuss around with the 36C, I discovered that letting out the straps completely fixed the problems I was having.

I am happy with my bra, but disappointed it took 45mins of struggling on my own to figure out what was going on.

  12. I am pleased to see this. I have to do the same thing, double up my sport bras for support and view. Thank you!

  13. I have heard a lot of feedback that the TaTaTamers come in larger ribcage sizes (more 38’s and 40’s) as well as more DD cup sizes to give the best support to the ladies who need it most!

    Keep up the awesome work

  14. * I meant the TaTaTamers SHOULD come in larger sizes! Sorry!

  15. You say that the TaTa Tamer with criss-cross straps will be available later this season - any idea which month that would be? Looking forward to purchasing it!

    Comment by Stephanie — September 6, 2009 @ 12:05 pm

  16. Hey Naaz,
I’m sorry to hear you had to figure out the Ta Ta Tamer on your own! But thank you for letting us know about your experience!
Your feedback has inspired us to write a blog post devoted to finding the perfect fit for the Ta Ta Tamer written by the designer herself :)
If you can, it would be great if you could email the GEC at gec@lululemon.com (attn Lauren) and let us know which store you visited so we can pass your feedback directly to them as well.

Have a great weekend and I hope you enjoy the Ta Ta Tamer!

  17. I bought the Ta Ta Tamer II with the excitement to wear under with the new cross strap feature…unfortunately, the straps were not long enough! If they were about 2 inches longer, I would be able to cross them. It’s a great bra though but disappointed that I couldn’t wear it the way I really wanted to. Very jealous of the girl in the picture who got to wear it with the cross straps.

  18. I definitely need a tata tamer!

    Comment by Carole Hicks — September 8, 2009 @ 12:13 pm

  19. Good news Jill and Christina!
The Ta Ta Tamers DO come in larger sizes - up to a 38″ ribcage AND rumour has it that E cups will be joining the Taming line-up sometime later this year! Whoo!
But I will pass along your feedback about 40″ ribcages.

Sorry to hear that Sara! But don’t worry, all the Ta Ta Tamers from November onwards will definitely have crossable straps!

  20. Whatever happened to the Let Me Hold Those tank? It would be great to have tank options for those of us in need of a little (or a lot of) taming/holding. I find that some of your medium support tanks (like the Swift tank) don’t have enough side coverage. Just a thought…

    Comment by Elli — September 10, 2009 @ 8:03 am

  21. Hey Elli,
The LetMeHoldThose4U Tank is sitting out this Fall/Winter season, but I can pass on your feedback directly to the designers that you miss it!
Also, I love the specific feedback about the side coverage :)

  22. I heard them talking about the tata tamer on a Vancouver radio station. It was hilarious because there was a guy that asked if the sportsbra was bulletproof. I think they also spoke to the designer of the tata tamer on the air. Unfortunately, they aren’t made big enough for me. Bigger tatas need the support!!

    Comment by Kasi — September 15, 2009 @ 12:46 am

  23. I second the motion about bringing the Let Me Hold Those 4 U tank back. I’m a 34D and this is the only bra I’ve found ANYWHERE that I can run in with no embarrassment - and believe me, I’ve looked everywhere. I bought in the size smaller (34C) and this bra lets me run comfortably with almost no bouncing.

I found it works better than your other support bras because the neckline is higher, so it is able to keep the girls from going up in the first place -’cause what goes up…. Combined with that no-stretch inner bra support that clips together in the front..Perfection!!

PLEASE bring it back next season! (yes, I’m begging)

  24. Hi Sam,

Thanks for the great feedback! I love how specific it is! I will pass your pleading - uh, request :) - on to the design department right now!

  25. Good news Kasi!

We should be coming out with some larger sizes in the Ta Ta Tamer sometime in the near future. I’m not quite sure when, but we’ll make sure to let everyone know when it does happen :)

    -Lauren

ps - I wore it for the first time the other day and it was fantastic! Although I did feel slightly bulletproof :)
