Today was a wet and cold Vancouver day. How to stay warm in luon? I layered, of course.

Sneaking pictures on the 4th floor (that's our Design space behind me!)

With a Cool Racerback layered over an older version of the Push Ur Limits Tank, my core was kept warm underneath my chambray shirt. I finished off the outfit with the Still Pant. The four way stretch and wicking capabilities make it ideal not just for yoga, but for my day at work as well. Rain was in the forecast and I didn't want the hem to drag so they got tucked into my boots and I instantly fell in love with the end result.

Tip for layering without all the bulk: wear a tank that already has support built in.

Meet Milla, the assistant manager from the lululemon Hong Kong showroom. She's a huge fan of the Cool Racerback tank. Why? In her own words:

why milla loves the crb

The Cool Racerback tank is made of lululemon's signature fabric, luon light, and it is the perfect layering piece to wear from day-to-day activities to any intense workout. It's moisture wicking, and has no inner shelf bra which gives us unlimited ways to create outfits that suit our athletic lifestyle. I will be wearing this style of Cool Racerback tank in different colours for 7 days starting today, September 10th, to show you how much I appreciate the versatility of this tank. Every day, I will take two photos of myself to show you the different ways to incorporate this tank and create outfits from street to sweat.

day 1: sweat

Today I'm kick-starting this challenge with a Cool Racerback tank in Tang Light at our ambassador Icy Lee's studio in Quarry Bay - Yogasala. In Iyengar style yoga, a lot of emphasis is put on very precise body alignment, therefore it is recommended that we wear tighter fit clothing from top to bottom for alignment corrections. In Icy's classes, I always wear my Cool Racerback, layered with a medium support Flow Y Bra, and pair it with the Wunder Under Crop for best alignment awareness.

day 1: street

Here I am, walking down these historical stone steps of Pottinger Street in Central District. It's one of the busiest streets in Central because of its authentic local community from fruit stands, Chinese home decor vendors to selling Halloween costumes all year long. There are more than 10 yoga studios and gyms in Central and I usually walk through Pottinger Street to go from home to my favourite yoga class. At 33 degree celsius, I will definitely benefit from the light breatheable fabric of our Cool Racerback tank!

See you tomorrow for day two!

From the gym to the yoga studio, I’ve worn my fair share of sports tops. I have scoured near and far for the perfect top to sweat in. Flashback 1992 – my awesome hot pink leotard. 1996 – as my style matured, I flirted with t-shirts and tank tops. 2003 – my type of top had the qualities of style, substance and longevity. But I was still searching for the perfect fit.

Every morning, I went to the gym and some tops would wink at me as they passed me in the cardio room. Nothing serious, just some eye candy. I tried to meet some tops in the fitting rooms, but they were either too much drama or offered too little support. I almost gave up the search until one day my friend introduced me to her friend, lululemon. She suggested I give it a chance at the downtown store, no strings attached. Just take a look.

The lighting was good and the music pumping. I saw from across the room a stunning tank on the back wall. Sure it looked nice on the hanger, but would it pass my three tests? I took the tank to the back for some one on one time. Would I be able to fit into it? Move in it? Sweat in it? A woman knows within the first thirty seconds of meeting a top if she’s going to go home with it or not that night.

The Power Y Tank was its name and it passed the first test – it fit great! I danced around awkwardly in my fitting room and I could move in it – check! Two for two, but I was still weary in committing to the brand. Was it truly moisture wicking, four-way stretch, and flat seamed?

I gave the Power Y a chance and brought it home. I wore it to the gym, and it got better each time. No chaffing, no bunching, no crazy sweat patches, and I’m a crazy sweat-er! Wash after wash, it still met or exceeded my expectations. I tried rockclimbing, yoga, and spinning – check! Coffee dates, groceries, even the movies – still worked! We even double dated a few times: under a sweater with pants, over a bra with shorts – the Power Y kept its cool.

I could tell the designers took their time to create this cut and I could see the amount of thought put into the fabric composition. I knew there was something different about this garment – it was here to stay.

Flash forward to 2009, and I have more Power Y tanks than boyfriends (thank God!). Like any good relationship, ours has matured and changed, but its core focus remained the same – moderate support, built-in bra, great neckline, and longer in the torso. My six-year relationship with this style has only gotten better and I can’t wait to see where we go next.

Below: Elim fit, err, colour tests the newest Power Ys to arrive in our store.

After two and a half years here at lululemon athletica, my favourite feature found in our garments is removable cups - those pear-shaped inserts that are part of the built in bra of a tank top or just a sports bra itself. Hidden in between our nylon Lycra luon and powermesh, these cups are perfect for supporting the well-endowed, and also come in handy for adding some extra cleave for us ladies that want it.

For many of us, we keep the cups in. For others, we can’t wait to take them out! But then what do you do? In the spirit of fun and sustainability, what other creative ways can we use these cups? Here are a few suggestions from my colleagues and I to lighten up your midday coffee break:

1. Candy dishes.

2. Extra “oomph” in the gluteus maximus.

3. Earmuffs: for those of us that live where it’s really chilly!

4. Princess Leia costume at ComiCon.

5. Lend it to your male counterparts to protect those family jewels (be SURE to double up on those)

What do you use your removable bra cups for?

Above: MelEesa, our Men's Designer, test drives some of our luxtreme items in the park near our office.

If you've ever gone shopping for athletic wear, you have likely come face to face with the words "technical fabric". Have you ever wondered what this means and how it can enhance your workouts?

The term "technical fabric" refers to high-performance fabrics created and marketed specifically for sportswear. These fabrics are designed to pull moisture from your skin during periods of heavy sweating, spreading it evenly throughout the fabric so that sweat evaporates quicker and ultimately, you dry faster after your workouts than in a cotton t-shirt.

Luxtreme is a lightweight, smooth-feeling technical fabric that we use in our run line. Luxtreme is what we call an "inherently wicking" fabric, which means that the wicking property is part of the yarn itself and that your shirt will be wicking away your sweat for the life of the garment. Bottom line is that you will be calm, cool and collected before, during and after your workout.

I converted to wearing technical fabrics for all of my active living about a decade ago. So when I was given the task of test-running one of our luxtreme tops for work I decided to pass it on to my colleague Jacquie, who has always worn cotton t-shirts and tanks for her daily run. On a typical day she runs for about 40 minutes -- long enough to build up a good sweat!

If you have worn or worked out in any lululemon garments using Luxtreme I would love to hear your feedback below!

I look forward to sharing more information with you on our various fabrics and how they can make your workouts more fun. In the meantime, if you want a quick read on Luxtreme and our other technical fabrics check out the link below:

My sisters and I share the same parents but we have our own bodies. I may be able to get into the splits and hold a gnarly headstand, but when it comes to endurance activities, all three of my sisters can pass me in a heartbeat. My friend Jessica commented while I was feeling left behind in the dust during a family hike that "the girls are just built differently."

Our bodies shape the type athletes that we become. Athletes come in all shapes and sizes too. Look at gymnast Shawn Johnson and basketball player Yao Ming.

Think of your body as a unique gift that is designed to perform like none other. How would you start loving your body if you stopped comparing it to others? What image you would have of yourself if mirrors did not exist and we based our image off of how we felt inside? After a sweaty hike or a killer dance class my body reaches a potential so high I could flash the sky at the top of a mountain...

Love your body and the possibilities it has for reaching your highest physical potential.

Confused about the Athletic Deep V? Lara gives us tips about how to rock it.

Sassy, sexy, and exceeding all expectations for athletic functionality, if you're a 'curvalicious' woman, the Athletic Deep V is the perfect active living tank for YOU.

Here is why:
• Strong support for bustier women with thick shoulder straps and side panels
• The "v" cut cleavage ensures that your girls don't fall prey to an unflattering "uni-boob"
• A-line body doesn’t ride up during vigorous activity and looks great when filled out by a curvier frame. This is a great option for women post and during pregnancy as well as a forgiving fit during the weeks after holiday seasons!
• Mesh back panel ensures that your skin can breathe during tough workouts, keeping you cool

When determining your size, note that the Athletic Deep V is a tank with more compression on the bust so it may feel tighter than what you are used to. This tightness is necessary for proper support so use the comfort there as a guide. The straps should not be cutting in to your shoulders or back and you should feel supported but still be able to breathe. Remember that this is a tank that you are going to be active in – try swinging your arms and jumping around a bit to test it out.

If you have trouble fitting this tank, perhaps try a different style. Each lululemon tank is built to address a different function and/or body type. While resident Robson St. bombshell and keyleader Winnie rocks this tank in her cardio-pole dancing classes, as a non-curvy lady with large shoulders and a smaller bust, I find that the Athletic Deep V doesn't work on my frame. Fear not! I will be focusing on women like me in posts to come!

Nothing gets me more excited than when I'm working in our stores and I hear about guests falling in love with the TaTa Tamer. It may seem a little self-serving to name the TTT as my favourite piece of lululemon, but how can I not?

Any girl who's ever had to wear two bras just to go for a run knows exactly where I'm coming from. It's of course a lot more than that for me, being my first (read: more gorgeous supportive bras to come!) major contribution to lululemon in the world of full support sports bras.

I'm passionate about what I do: bras and underwear are fun and shouldn't be boring! I believe they should be a part of your outfit; they should look great and function for you no matter what you're doing.

I love solving problems in creative ways. Whether it's educators telling me about guest experiences or it's getting the opportunity to fit someone properly in the perfect sports bra for their needs, it makes my day. It's one thing to love what you do, another to do what you love, and it's something close to incredible when doing what you love changes the lives of women in the best possible way.

I wear my TTT all the time, co-coordinating of course with whatever outfit/activity I'm up to - working, running, jumping, dodgeballin'...(yes, I have specific outfits for these activities!). I've got various colours to work with my various outfits.

I love love love being a woman, I love being active, and I don’t believe that women should ever have to compromise one for the other. I'm proud of my shape, I like my curves and I want to still look feminine while running. No more uni-boob, AND I get the support I need! What else could I ask for? It's a fun, cute garment that functions. How could the TaTa Tamer not be my favourite piece of lululemon?

Melissa is our bra and swimwear designer. Her big, hairy, ambitious goal is to have Oprah talk about one of her bras on air.

In the photo above, Melissa and MelEesa (both on our design team) are wearing the Movement Tank over top of their TaTa Tamers. To try on and fall in love with a TaTa Tamer yourself, please visit your local lululemon store.
