surprise! indoor spinning can be intense

I went on a 3-mile run the same day as my first Psycle class with ambassador Tom Kristo. Big mistake. By the end of class, I felt as though I had completed a triathlon: running, cycling and swimming in my sweat. Being an outdoor cyclist, I was skeptical going into the class. I had taken other indoor cycling classes in the past and they just were not cutting it for me - the intensity was low and the boredom high. Boy, was I in for a surprise!

The instant you walk through the studio doors and Tom welcomes you, his enthusiasm and passion for cycling is contagious. After clipping in, the lights dim and the music starts and Tom leads you through an hour of intense jumping, cycling and squatting to the rhythm of upbeat tunes. Sweaty doesn’t even begin to describe it. Let’s just say that my favourite Swiftly Tank had its work cut out for it!

better than french fries

Pittsburgh is a town that puts french fries under salads on purpose and you could say Tom does the same thing. Psycle doesn’t just give you a cardio workout- it’s a layer of cardio on top of jumping on top of pushups on top of some seriously deep motivation. Which, if you ask me, is much better than french fries. I go to Tom’s class at least once a week and it’s far more than just a cycle class. As soon as I exit the room, I’m grateful for the push he’s given me, his personality and devotion to his clientele.

This “push” is what Tom brings to the community. His class is not only a physical work out, but a mental one as well. You can turn down the tension on your bike, you can pedal slower - heck, you can walk out of the room if you want to. But Tom makes you not want to. His manifesto printed on the wall is expressed during every class. Before we know it, he is going to have all of Pittsburgh “think(ing) fast and dream(ing) big.

Our Maui Showroom is privileged to be located in the beautiful town of Paia, known for its larger than life yoga culture, world class surf spots and outdoor adventures. The Pittsburgh team is ready to meet their neighbours in Shadyside!

We are so excited to be nestled in the neighbourhood of Shadyside, right on Walnut Street! Pittsburgh is a city known for its rockin' athletic community who knows a thing or two about combining yoga with all forms of fitness. We definitely feel very lucky to be a part of such a wonderful community!
