In the spirit of sharing daily BHAGs, it seems fitting to introduce Angela Zawada. Angela is one of our superstar Strategic Sales partners, a lululemon athletica ambassador and a past lululemon employee who went after her big hairy audacious goal and succeeded in a big way!

After high school, Angela moved from Ontario to Alberta for university and volleyball. While at school, she started practicing yoga to compliment her intensive volleyball training. She soon fell in love with hot yoga and made it one of her goals to open the first Moksha studio in Edmonton.

Once she graduated, Angela worked at lululemon athletica on the team that opened our Kingsway store in Edmonton. Her time in the store provided her with the opportunity to develop her leadership skills and discover another one of her passions: developing people. At the same time, her position allowed her the freedom to continue pursuing her yoga studio goals as she took a month off to get her Moksha teacher certification in Thailand.

Angela teaching an outdoor complimentary yoga class

BHAG accomplished

Soon enough, Angela was able to realize her dream and open the first Moksha Yoga studio in Edmonton. At the time, this was the only Moksha studio and she was the only Moksha instructor in the entire province. Her amazing ability to attract and develop people has clearly worked in her favour; two and a half years later, she has opened her second studio location and she now shares the teaching workload with 20 other Moksha certified yoga teachers!

Our Strategic Sales partner, Moksha Yoga Edmonton

Angela still works closely with the Edmonton stores and this past year she signed on for her second term as an ambassador with lululemon West Edmonton Mall. To check out her new studio and to learn more about Moksha Yoga visit Moksha Yoga Edmonton; to find a lululemon Strategic Sales partner in your community check out our partner listings under the Community tab.

One thing I absolutely love about my Remix Hoodie? The zippers! lululemon zippers never catch, snag or jam because Max has been sourcing and producing the highest quality zippers, buttons, trims etc. for the last three years. In his new role as the Sourcing Operations Manager for Accessories, Max will be applying his knowledge and skills to ensure we continue to create best-in-the-world accessories!

Max on a weekend excursion up to Whistler

what is a goal you’ve achieved that you’re proud of?

In my previous career I was a graphic designer and got a taste of the garment biz at one of my many jobs. When it was time to move on, I knew that I wanted to stay in this business and lululemon was the only company aligned with my lifestyle, values and goals. Through sheer persistence and determination I managed to get an interview, but there was nothing here for me. I then met with Chip... again...nothing. Discouraged, I reluctantly went back to design work. Almost a year passed and I realized that I needed to make something happen fast. So at 30 years old, I took a part-time educator position at Oakridge mall. I shared my head office goals with everyone, and within 6 weeks was hired as the Trims and Notions Developer. Seeing a path for myself within the company, I set my next goal to become a Sourcing Manager. Again, I put it out there, wrote it in my goals and worked my butt off to get both trained in the business and IN business (by doing my MBA... which was a massive goal in itself). Three years later, I achieved my goal and was offered the position of Sourcing Operations Manager for Accessories.

Max possibly making an inspirational speech about achieving goals…

what is your favourite way to sweat?

I'm a bike nut! Mainly I'm a roadie guy who likes to dress up in bright coloured spandex and go really really fast. Lately though I've been playing a lot of bike polo (look it up!). Apart from fitness, my bike is my main mode of transport and takes me wherever I need to go. When I'm not on my bike, you can find me doing the occasional yoga class or cursing at Rob during our twice weekly circuit training class.

Max considering a donut mid bike race!

where would you love to go?

I am completely infatuated with Sweden. It's liberal, progressive and beautiful. Plus it’s a major cultural hub churning out amazing art, music and fashion (all things I love). Watch out Stockholm... I'm coming!

Max on a previous adventure to Costa Rica !

why do you love working at lululemon athletica?

I love the concept of setting goals. Everything of note that I have ever achieved in my life was due to setting a goal and going for it. I feel completely supported by my coworkers and management and am given the freedom to be an entrepreneur in my role. I am free to make mistakes and am encouraged to learn from them when I actually do mess up. I get to travel, work with inspiring people, take on interesting new projects and be surrounded by hundreds of beautiful women!

how does your role elevate lululemon?

In my new role, I will be elevating lululemon by sourcing best-in-the-world accessories suppliers and aligning them with our quality and vision. These suppliers will be able to provide all of our accessories product needs all while working towards sustainability in their business practices. One of my main goals will be to streamline our internal process flows to reduce both physical and operational waste and create an environment where accessories sets the bar for sustainability and efficiency within lululemon.

Check out our continually evolving and expanding set of possibilities on the lululemon careers page.

The lululemon Princeton cheer team on a Saturday morning.

My professional athletic career is something I may never be able to brag about to generations to come because, well, I never had one. My could-be-professional career as your biggest fan, well, that’s another story.

When you walk into lululemon Princeton, you see our team working the floor. What most people don’t see though is our team huddled in the brisk late-April air at the edge of Mercer Lake at 7am on a Saturday with Sarah Trowbridge paraphernalia. Sarah is an educator on our lululemon team and more amazingly she’s training on the US National Rowing Team, so when she informed us all she’d be racing, we had to be there—her face in hand.

Sarah's team got crafty to cheer her on.

Although I only went to a one-week rowing camp for a single summer when I was 16, I quickly understood that the fan base for rowing even on an Olympic level was slightly less than that of, say, the NFL. But in Princeton, we’ve adopted the rowing team as our extended family and rowing as our favorite sport. Rowers are our store managers, our Elite Ambassadors, our educators, and our favourite familiar faces, so it was no surprise seeing all that lululemon walking around at the boathouse. All those athletes trying to achieve their goals and making it happen was some serious inspiration.

Inside the Princeton store with Sarah's face

All of our teams’ goals are posted in our store to remind us daily that what we want is out there waiting for us to grab it. Whether it’s eating healthier, mastering the NYC subway system, finishing a Masters Degree, or winning gold at the 2012 Olympic Games, we’re always up for cheering each other on. Support (like a good sports bra!) can make all the difference. So keep rowing, Trowbridge, we’re right there with ya!

Wanna make your goals a reality? Take a read through our goal setting tips.

Rachel is a Key Leader at lululemon Princeton, New Jersey. She's a huge fan of her team and goal setting!

This letter was written by Elizabeth from our Highland Village lululemon store in Houston, Texas. She has a passion for goal setting, running and sharing why she loves the Run:Tracker Shorts!

Hey design team,

You guys have designed my favourite shorts! The Tracker shorts are the most incredible running shorts and I want to share why:

The waistband is comfortable and doesn't budge. There is no riding up or down, no distraction of having to adjust my shorts while I'm running.

I love lined shorts and these hold up really well.

I don't like my shorts to be tight on my "athletically built" thighs and these give me room in the leg. There is great for my range of motion while running but also for my self-confidence, plus no chafing for 13.1 miles(which is a half marathon for you non-runners)!

The side pocket was big enough for a couple energy gels, and it's easy to access while running.

When I interviewed for the educator position at lululemon, I said my goal was to run my first half-marathon, and I did it last weekend in the Run:Tracker shorts! They were absolutely perfect for the run! I gush about them to my fellow educators and guests, educating on all these amazing features.

Keep up the awesome work design team,

Liz

A whole bunch of warriors.

We are no more than fifteen minutes into the practice, and I have already violated pratyahara, or control of the senses, because I am definitely not keeping my cool. With the awe-inspiring National Monument, American flags, and a big, cloud-filled sky looming over a record-breaking crowd, I find it hard to focus on the practice.

The best way to spend your Saturday afternoon.

I cannot help but scan the energetic rows of down dogs and warriors surrounding me, and the rock star yogis from near and fear. On stage practicing are this month’s Yoga Journal cover model Faith Hunter, David Kyle, a world famous yogi from Puerto Rico, and Kaitlin Quistgaard, Yoga Journal’s Editor-in-Chief.

Faith doing lotus pose.

The event was organized by lululemon athletica Tyson’s Corner manager, Laura Mann, with the support of lululemon athletica educators from all over the DC region. Our region came together to maximize our word-of-mouth persuasion and online community, garnering 1,200 confirmed guests on Facebook alone in the days leading up to the event.

The amazing lululemon team!

We chant a final 'Namaste' just as the sun peaks out from behind the clouds. A warm breeze sends cherry blossom petals fluttering around us just as we bow our heads. Ah! Now this is yoga!

Have you ever called the Guest Education Centre with a crazy question? If yes, you know that you are greeted with an incredibly knowledgeable, fun and experienced educator who knows the difference between Senorita Pink and Fruity Tootie and can bring the store experience to you on the phone. It's time to meet the freshest faces to join the team!

This fantastic group of people support our guests, stores, ecommerce team, and online communities. It's also a bit of an insider secret that the GEC is an awesome launching pad into other roles in the company-- just ask our Public Relations Coordinator, Lindsay, or our Online Community Manager, Carolyn!

Right now the GEC is growing. Meet Robin and Jennifer, the newest GECers:

meet robin

Robin, living the West Coast dream!

what is your most memorable childhood experience?

Family vacations. Almost every year on Christmas break or summer vacation we would pile into the family car and drive from Ontario to Nova Scotia and spend two weeks there. They were never big or fancy but definitely something I’ve always treasured.

why did you join lululemon?

About 10 months ago I decided to move out to BC to pursue a career goal in firefighting. I began my search for a flexible job that would help me reach my goals. lululemon stood out and I’ve been with the company a month and a half now. It's not only congruent with my life style but my values, too.

Robin, when he's not at the GEC!

what's your favourite way to sweat?

Pumping iron! No better feeling than putting those numbers up and reaching your goals.

who/what inspires you?

My family inspires me. I’ve been blessed to have some really amazing teachers and role models. Other things that have had a great impact on my life are: arts, culture, traveling, and the amazing people I’ve met along the way.

what’s your BHAG (big, hairy, audacious goal)?

Although its sort of an 'on the spot BHAG' I can honestly say that owning my own fitness centre/health store is something I would thoroughly enjoy.

meet jennifer

One of Jennifer's biggest passions is dancing. Here she is on stage performing.

what has been the biggest surprise working for lululemon?

How much everyone here cares about each other personally as well as professionally. This really goes to show how support from peers speeds up progress, as everyone here is striving for and achieving goals every single day. It amazes me just how much positivity is in this one room as a result of the ongoing support and encouragement from others.

what is your guilty pleasure?

Chocolate. I have a stash in my desk at all times.

what are you passionate about?

I have a passion for life, but if I had to be specific, my passion lies in dance. I have wild dreams about performing in huge venues, and I can talk about dance for hours on end. It’s my way of expressing myself and inspiring others to live their dreams as well.

what drives you crazy?

Fruit salad/mixed fruit cups—I have a distaste for oranges in my fruit salad/mixed fruit cups. The citrus flavor contaminates everything and you can’t enjoy your other fruits!

what quote/piece of advice has had the biggest impact on you?

"When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.” There’s a positive and a creative way to look at all situations. Things are never as bad as they seem at first.

More exciting opportunities for fresh educator faces are popping up at the GEC! Visit http://tbe.taleo.net/NA1/ats/careers to find out more.

Meet Kristy, our new Area Manager for Canada! She's stirring things up right here where it all started, in Vancouver, BC. Kristy comes to us with vast retail experience, including senior management roles at companies including Zara and Please Mum.

Meet Kristy with her family above, our new Area Manager for Canada.

Keep an eye out for this lovely face in stores across Canada, and if you see her, make sure to say hello and get to know her! Until then, learn more about Kristy:

what was your best olympics experience?

Saturday, February 13 – livin’ it up at the Robson store, educating to people from all over the world and taking part in my first flashmob amongst 3000 other people – exhilarating!

what are you most passionate about?

Hands down most passionate about two things: my kids and travel.

I have two boys: Tyson who is a born leader and risk taker, even at the ripe old age of four. He can download an app and launch off the bouncy castle while delegating recycling duties to his little brother with ease! Zack is one year old and much more chill… so far. While just starting to find his voice, Zack has an opinion on everything. Can’t wait to understand what he is actually saying!

The little guys, Tyson and Zack, who keep Kristy grounded.

When I am not chasing the kids around, my favorite place to go is the beach. Greece, south of France, and Maui are my faves so far.

what is your favourite guilty pleasure?

Celebrity gossip mags - terrible, I know - I just can’t walk away.

what quote/book/advice has made the biggest impact on you?

“Life is short,
Break the rules,
Forgive quickly,
Kiss slowly,
Laugh uncontrollably,
And never regret anything that made you smile.”
-Mark Twain

or

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same”
~Coco Chanel

what has been the biggest surprise working at lululemon so far?

The level of engagement from all the people working in the stores and the Store Support Centre is unbelievable. I had always heard what a great place lululemon was to work at, and it is beyond true. We are walking the walk and talking the talk – I love it. I am thrilled to be part of such a dynamic and committed team. I have never been so excited about life’s possibilities!

Say hi to Kristy when you see her in your local yoga studio or gym!

There you have it... another new lululemon face and another new world of possibilities opening up! Is it just me, or is it super exciting to see what the rest of 2010 will have in store for us? - both literally or figuratively!

If you are interested in being a part of Kristy’s growing Canadian team, visit our careers section and search for “store management”, “store operations” or “educators” to find the next possibility for your life and career!

You could call me superwoman… but I can't fly, I don't have any magical powers, and I don't wear a cape.

But you may catch me changing costumes. Sometimes I'll enter my car dressed in business slacks, a sweater set and heels – and just minutes later, I'll step out of the car donning sneakers, moisture-wicking luon, and a matching headband to boot.

I'm just one of the many educators moonlighting at lululemon athletica. By day, I work full-time at a non-profit organization. By night (and sometimes on weekends), I am a part-time educator at lululemon athletica Ala Moana. Many people ask me why I do it. The money, the complimentary yoga classes (yes! lululemon gives its employees the gift of fitness!), the discount? All great reasons, but it's not what keeps me going during those 14-hour days.

Marisa and the honolululemons after a recent spin class.

It's the people. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by those who believe self-growth and development are non-negotiable, guests who put health and wellness as a priority, and colleagues who make it fun to come to work. People who are passionate, enthusiastic, and live life to its fullest. People who believe that integrity is a must in the workplace, who help me set goals and hold me accountable, and who allow me to be my authentic self. And ultimately, it is lululemon athletica, a company that encourages entrepreneurship, motivates us to take ownership of our lives, and expects us to help elevate the world to greatness.

So don't be surprised if you see me wearing a bright colored Power Y tank under my wool cardigan at my full-time job. Or if you see me pulling on my Groove pants at a red light while driving from one job to the next. It's what I do. I'm a lululemon superwoman.

Recently there was “Free Day of Yoga.” In dozens of cities across the globe, participating yoga and pilates studios opened up their spaces by offering free classes to the community. Studio owners and teachers offered this gift to students in the spirit of sharing the love and bliss of yoga, not to mention the health benefits of practicing the sport.

lululemon athletica Ala Moana sponsored Hawaii’s Free Day of Yoga. We wanted people to try different styles, instructors and studios (at no cost) in order to stretch their mind, body, and spirit.

Our community came out to enjoy this special event. Almost all of the classes were packed to capacity. One of the local studio owners, Conrad Gacki of Bikram Yoga Nimitz had crammed classes from sun up (5.30 a.m. class) to sundown (7 p.m. class).

Gacki was so inspired by the Free Day of Yoga that he has decided to visit all of the studios that were involved in the community event in order to help strengthen the local yoga community. Educators at lululemon Ala Moana have received nothing but positive feedback for helping to organize this event. We even had a 72-year-old guest mention that she attended five free classes on that day! Nothing could make us smile more. The work we do at lululemon is for the community, it is to share the benefits of yoga and fitness with beginners, elite athletes, and everyone in between.

lululemon athletica stores offer complimentary weekly yoga classes. Visit lululemon.com/stores to find a lululemon store near you.

This blog was written by Jessika who recently completed her yoga teacher training and is an educator at our Vaughan Mill's lululemon.

Be the change. - Gandhi

When I decided to take my yoga teacher training I tried to put my expectations on a leash. I tried not to imagine all the wonderful changes that would occur; I tried not to focus on what a present, calm, ideal yogi I would become. I tried.

Expectations are the fastest way to set yourself up for disappointment. The path of yoga is not about what you were or what you will become; it's about being present in each moment. There's no easy path to become the person you aspire to be, but with a conscious mind and open heart you can learn to accept yourself as you are and let that love and acceptance help you grow.

I recently went for some spiritual counseling from a yogini. What struck me the most was learning that I don't need to "figure it all out". My dharma or duty was to simply bring gratitude and contentment into my daily life. It doesn't matter if I hit the mat every day (especially if I stress myself to get there). What matters most is taking the lessons I learn from yoga and applying them to my every day life off of the mat - to respect the earth, to remember that we are all one, to believe in my divinity and that of those around me, to be truthful, and to follow the Yamas (guidelines on how to treat others and interact with society) and Niyamas (guidelines on how to treat yourself).

Since that visit I have told myself daily what I am grateful for, even if all I can think of in that moment is remembering to be grateful in the first place. This small change has caused a ripple affect in my life. The veil of expectation has been lifted and I accept that I am exactly where I need to be in life in this very moment. I also accept that though I may forget from time to time - I am divine. We all are. It is simply our duty to remember.

Read about the great gratitude for yoga teachers like Jessika in our blog post My Love Affair with the Yoga Teachers of the World.

Meet Jenna on the left, an amazing blogger and educator here at lululemon. Read her story of how she came to lululemon and why she is loving it today!

"So what do you do?" Such a common and automatic question when meeting someone new.
"I'm in retail," I answer, but always felt compelled to add, "but it isn't your normal retail store".

Three years ago I knew nothing of lululemon, luon or Groove Pants. One of my Canadian girlfriends mentioned it one day. "What a weird name," I thought to myself.

"Oh my God their pants are amazing!" she said and continued to rave about them. I thought she was insane going nuts over a pair of pants. That was until I tried my first pair of Groove Pants on and nodded, "Ah, I see what all the fuss is about now," as I wondered where they had been all my life.

Fate had it that that summer I was looking for work and came across a rare advert for lululemon looking to hire now. What did I have to lose? My friend had gone on about them and I needed a job. Right from the get go however, I realized there was more than met the eye. My 'interview' was held outside, sitting on some steps in Mountain Square in Whistler. As soon as the woman interviewing me started talking about goals and goal setting, I had fallen in love. With the company holding so many similar ideals and aims as my own, it was like the guidance I had been searching for was right before me.

Jenna taking part in a yoga class with everyone.

Some of her co-workers.

Cheering for our elite ambassador!

Now, it's a year and a half later and I looked back on my time so far with lululemon and realize what an amazing company I work for. I have done guerilla yoga, cheered at the World Cup bobsleigh and skeleton races as a LEAF (lululemon elite ambassador fan), taken my hand to visual merchandising, organized a yoga stretch event before a running race, strutted my stuff on the catwalk at a fit and function show, let my creativity bloom as a blog artist and now helped as a team wear judge. My job title? Educator!

Opportunity is always there for the taking. All you have to do is have the courage to step up.

Ever thought about working at a lululemon store? Great news - we're hiring! Every holiday season we hire seasonal educators to join our team. What you may not know is that after the holidays are over, many seasonal positions turn into permanent part-time or full-time positions. It's like the gift that keeps on giving!

A team that jumps together, stays together!

Here's what to expect from the seasonal hiring process:

your local lululemon puts the word out on the street

To find if your lululemon is hiring for the holidays, you can:

- check their store web page
- search our careers section
- check their Facebook page. Here's a list of our stores on Facebook
- ask someone you know who works there already
- drop in to the store to chat in person! (This way your future team can put a face to a name, too.)

Each store's hiring process is slightly different. This year lululemon Kingston is holding a loveyourjob fair for seasonal hiring - find the details here.

the group interview

The group interview is meant to be an opportunity to learn more about what it might be like to work at the store, meet the people you'll be working closely with, and share more about yourself. Wear comfortable clothes, be yourself, and be prepared for impromptu downward dogs!

Staff meeting at our new Palm Beach Gardens, Florida location - opening Oct. 30!

the one-on-one

Stores want their seasonal hires to potentially turn into members of their team. After the group interview, managers send out invitations for one-on-one meetings. This is another chance to shine and ask any other questions you may have. Got goals? Hope so! Be prepared to answer what your 1, 5, and 10-year plans are. Need help? Check out goaltender!

lululemon La Jolla's staff wall of goals. View their educator job postings here.

frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably. Be yourself. Elissa says "don't wear heels."

How do I prepare for the group interview?

Ask yourself what you like about lululemon and why you're interested in joining the team. Other than that, expect the unexpected - anything can happen!

How do I prepare for the one-on-one interview?

This is the more "regular" interview: questions, availability, goals, etc. Remember that "Preparing for Interviews" lecture from your guidance counselor in high school? It's like that.

Do I need to be a product expert?

It helps, but your biggest asset is a keen, teachable spirit. The team shares a pool of knowledge, and you can tap into that pool once you jump into the deep end.

Guerilla yoga could be part of your job! Pictured above: lululemon 4th St. braving the Calgary cold.

Being part of the seasonal team gives you the chance to see if you're a good fit with lululemon, participate in community yoga classes and events, and learn more about the culture. Oh, and make some extra spending money over the holidays. If you've ever thought about what it might be like to work at a lululemon, now is a great time to find out.

Get out there! We're waiting for you!

A couple, who sweats together, stays HEALTHY together!

I would like to introduce to you Liz and her fiancé. Liz is an educator at the GEC and recently enrolled her fiancé to attend beach yoga with her. Weather and schedule permitting, he ended up attending two more times and did a circuit training class with her. Liz then shared with me that they do try to hit the gym and go for runs together. She says they both are competitive and it adds a different aspect to their time together. Their story inspired me. Why not love working out WITH the one you love?

What he liked about his Metal Vent Tech SS:

- He was sweating hard during their Circuit Training class but he didn't feel the moisture. Why? The fabric is treated to wick sweat.

- As the class progressed, he noticed that he was still relatively cool. Good to know that the added detail of integrated mesh venting was doing it's job.

- With Rob from Endorphin Junkies putting him through squats and lunges, there were no itchy seams to distract his from his task at hand. Men: you don't know what flat seams can do for you until you try!

SWEAT ONCE A DAY!!

Why We Made This:

- Performance top with integrated mesh venting for high breathability and heat management
- Anti-stink Silverescent™ using X-Static, the silver fibre
- Seamless body construction and flat seamed for chafe resistant wearing experiences
- Preshrunk for sizing confidence
- Wicking

Look for your own Metal Vent Tech in your lululemon store or online at:
