With the summer months coming our designers have focused on lightweight fabrics that will make you feel like you are running naked and free, with full coverage. I asked my friend Hollis, the Assistant Manager at our La Jolla Store, and avid sweat junkie what she's been loving to sweat in lately. Hollis loves the I Just Wanna Run Tank, an amazing new addition to our run line. Here are a few reasons why Hollis loves getting her heart rate up and her sweat out in the I Just Wanna Run Tank.

endorphin tested, sweat approved

Hollis is currently training for the La Jolla Half Marathon, and her very first Rock'n'Roll Marathon in June! Hollis is averaging at least 20 miles a week in her runs producing a lot of endorphins and sweat. As her mileage continues to build in the months to come, the last thing she needs is a tank that will get heavier as her body temperature rises and so does her perspiration.

She also cross trains by spinning twice a week, and is thankful the I Just Wanna Run Tank accommodates both. Hollis has found that spinning is an amazing way to build her stamina and endurance for long distance running. She likes spinning in this tank because it is high enough that when she gets low she feels she has coverage. It is also so lightweight that she never has the urge to rip her tank off in the middle of class. If she does get really hot, she can use the drawcord to cinch the tank up and let her skin completely breathe.

it's in the details

There are lots of little details that make this tank amazing to sweat in. My personal favourite detail of this tank is that is woven with ultra lightweight and breathable Silverescent™ fibres that have anti-stink and anti-static properties. When Hollis is running 12 miles or more, her tank will not cling to her side, and she can feel comfortable heading to lunch or coffee afterwards as her sweat will dry really quickly and she won't need to take a bath in perfume.

Why We Made This:

Barely there tech top for those who just wanna run!

Lightweight & breathable Silverescent™ has anti-stink and anti-static properties

Loose comfortable fit, great for layering

Cinchable drawcord for customizable fit

Secret stash pocket for cards or keys

Flat seamed for chafe resistance & comfort

At the end of the day, if you have to run 5, 10, 20 miles, you want your body to be comfortable, dry, and you want to feel good about yourself in what you're wearing. The I Just Wanna Run Tank delivers in all of those departments, and I can easily see why it's one of Hollis' favourite pieces to sweat in this Spring.

Hollis is 5'5" a size 4 and is wearing the I Just Wanna Run Tank in Lavender and the Run:Zoom Crops in coal/lavender/ horizontal stripe/lime.

Where are you sweating this Spring?

This post is in response to Elle, who responded to our "ask a fit guru post", on her quest to find a great tank and sports bra that she can wear for her first half marathon.

Alright Elle, I heard you loud and clear and have called in my friend Hollis, the Assistant Manager in La Jolla, a serious runner with countless half marathons under her belt and a full marathon on deck in June.

She is built very similarly to how you described yourself. She is 5'5, a size 4, and a C cup. She too wants things to be supportive and flattering, so I asked her to show me her favourite run outfit, particularly for a half marathon. These are a few of her favorite things and her biggest piece of advice for you Don't wear anything on the day of your race you have not already ran in and are comfortable with!

On brisk days Hollis prefers wearing an extremely lightweight long sleeve tank so that her body stays warm, but will not over heat. She currently loves the Run:Team Spirit Long Sleeve, but covets her closet full of Run:Swiftly Techs (short and long sleeve).

It is no surprise that her favourite run tank is the Run:Swiftly Racerback. This running tank is all things you asked for; long in length, lightweight, wicks your sweat really quickly, and is very flattering.

Having a full bust, Hollis' favourite bra to run in is the All Sport Bra, a cross training bra with thick straps, and tremendous support. Although Hollis typically wears a 4 in all of our tops and bras, she prefers a 6 in this bra because the straps are wide and strong.

Although you had mentioned you would be wearing shorts, Hollis prefers wearing crops, as she likes the supports they give her legs, and also for chafe prevention. She has literally been living in the Run:Team Spirit Crops, and brags about their super quick wicking abilities. This is a personal choice, so Hollis instructs to run a few long runs in shorts, as well as crops and see how you feel.

Last but not least don't forget about your feet! I myself made the mistake of running my first half marathon in big thick socks, with big thick seams, and by mile 10 and had big thick blisters! Seamless, moisture wicking socks are to die for when running long distance. Hollis and I both love the Ultimate Run Sock.

These socks are fitted, but not too tight, so they won't move around on you in full stride on mile 9. They also are built with compression around your arch for more support, so pay attention to the Left and Right markings.

Hollis and I wish you all the best with your race! Thank you for your questions Elle, we hope this helps!
