This week was an exciting week in lululemon history! Not only did we introduce our new brand ivivva athletica (ivivva will create athletic products with a younger generation in mind), but we also launched a pretty cool new concept store: the lululemon Lab. The lululemon Lab is essentially a design studio and a retail store in one!

We will have a small design team and a sewing team right on site in the Lab. You’ll be able to get your pants hemmed in an hour. And (drumroll please) you’ll be able to build your own custom Groove Pants. Yes, you read that right. You choose your colour. You choose your size. Then you get them made. It’s that simple!

You’ll even be able to buy custom creations that our on-site design team dreams up.

Sound too good to be true? The one kicker is that the lululemon Lab is located in our home city of Vancouver, BC. So if the Left Coast isn’t home for you, the next time you are in Vancouver (um, Olympics anyone?) why not pop by?

I live near this, it’s basically a visible sweat shop where you can see the Asians slaving away for your amusement.
When you go inside they not only offer to make your garments but will ‘love you long time fr $5′!

Wow Binky . . . I would like to hear what LuLu is going to say to that. I would hope that their hourly wage and benefits are equal to everyone else in the same type of position in Canada.

The lululemon lab is staffed by our sample-sewers and two designers!
The lab is a space where we create and sell custom garments - from concept, to design, to finished product. Essentially it’s a design studio and retail space in one!
We also provide one-hour hemming at the lab - as well as the ability to have custom groove pants made. You come in, pick your groove pant colour (for the band), and pick your threads! Then our sewing team will create your custom pants for you (usually within a week or so).
Hopefully this helps elaborate on the many reasons why we need to have lots of seamstresses and sewing machines on site. Pop on by and ask us any questions you have - or watch as our talented designers / seamstresses whip up some nifty new threads!
