After checking out lululemon athletica Ala Moana's running club recently, I finally got back into the habit of running after more than a few years away from the sport. My reward, you ask? More energy, a stronger body, better focus? You would think so.
While I have reaped some of those benefits from pounding the pavement, I ended up with Plantar Fasciitis (pain on the front of the heel or all along the arch). But I'm not the only one. Calluses, blisters, hammer toes or good ol' athlete's foot - it's the sacrifices people make when getting in shape and making exercise a part of their life. Yes, your mind and body might thank you for those hard core workouts or running sessions, but your feet have turned into an abused mess that borders on gross and embarrassing.
One of my lululemon co-workers insists: be proud of your feet. Those blisters, bruises and injuries are a badge of honor and proof of your commitment to a stronger body, mind and lifestyle. What are you waiting for? Get moving!
