Just as you should love your body for all its beauty and flaws, you should love your personality and passions the same way.
Western society oftens uses stereotypes to define groups of people; if you follow one trend, then you must follow all in the same archetype. For example, if you like indie music, then you should wear plaid, ride a fixie and say no to any electronic device that doesn’t have a Granny Smith branded on it. We find ourselves committed to these groups and stay focused in the communities that are built around them.

But what if we tried to redefine these niches? What if we all committed to scaring ourselves a little bit each and every day, by stepping outside the box we drew ourselves into? Imagine the people you would meet, the potential connections you could make, and the strength of community that could result.
I have purple hair, tattoos and piercings. A quick once over and most people would peg me for a skateboarding, pub loving, punk rocker. If you got to know me then you'd find out that I'm training for my first 10K in October, I love red wine and tapas restaurants and my favourite music is progressive house and a little bit of Britney.

I encourage you to be that surprise. When people meet you, they never know what they are going to get.
