Meet the Contributor: Michael
I was a high-school English and Journalism teacher in New Zealand, before moving to Europe. All my travel and exploring still hasn’t satiated my voracious appetite for a good story.
If I could do any job and be guaranteed not to fail, I’d spend my days writing children’s books.
Our designers are like a hive of busy little creative bees, always buzzing around thinking of ways to make our lives and work outs easier. Unlike real bees, our designers also like to stop and have fun. This black and white striped bee is our accessories designer Katie with her grapeseed Retro Groove Bag.
When Richard Roberts and Phillip Sharp won a Nobel Prize in 1993 for their work with split genes, Laura Appleton thought she was on to a winning formula. Her jean-splitting lunge is definitely prize worthy (although she still hasn’t received her Nobel Prize for it) and her BHAGs keep her achieving awesome things every day. [...]
When lululemon ambassador Jenn Thiel first went stand-up paddleboarding, it was at the Jericho sailing club on a first date. She instantly fell in love with paddle-boarding but, unfortunately, not with him. That was over two years ago and she’s still in love.
We love the grace of yoga; the fluidity as one pose morphs into another. When Vancouver yogi Tedi Martin introduced us to Antigravity yoga, we nestled into the safety of our duvet-cocoons and the beauty of yoga fused with man’s primordial desire to fly (you’re only a couple of feet off the ground but you still feel like an acrobat).
Sometimes I feel like Deanne has the energy to do more in a day than I do into a week. When she’s not running, doing yoga, spending time with her kids and VPing our brand, we harness her energy to power the office and two-thirds of the downtown core. This video is a must watch, especially if your name is Chris, Travis or Barry.
A realization that she needed to restore integrity into her life was the gender-confused canary in the coalmine for our North US Training Manager, Jenna Hills. A realization that she was dancing the “mom dance” was equally as surprising.
We all made a big fuss over Kate’s and William’s royal nuptials. Your mom’s kind of a big deal too, so treat her like royalty. For all the meals she’s cooked, all the eggy chins she’s wiped, why not put a little extra effort into mom’s brunch this mother’s day? After all, it’s the most important meal of the weekend.
