Liz guides us through some best practices on how to find the perfect fit!

bust

• Measure around the largest part of the bust.
• Keep the measuring tape straight across the front and back.
• Keep your arms at your sides
• Breathe out (we tend to hold our breath when taking measurements)

waist

Finding the natural waist is important. The natural waist is higher than most think; about 1 inch above your belly button. To find your natural waist, follow the photo below:

• Bend to either side. Where your body bends is the natural waist.
• Keep the measuring tape straight across the front and back.
• Breathe out (we tend to hold our breath when taking measurements)

hip

• Measure around the largest part of your hips and bottom.
• Be sure that the measuring tape is straight across the front and back.
Now you can take this new education and find the perfect garment for every athletic venture! Have fun!

Are you on the quest to find the perfect fit?

Here at lululemon, we realize not everyone has a store down the block to visit. Enter our online store at lululemon.com.

Ecommerce is our way of bringing lululemon to every corner of the earth. But how do we replace the amazing education offered when you visit one of our clothing stores in person?

Step 1

Take your measurements (a detailed post on this is coming soon!). Remember, the designer's intended fit doesn’t always match with our personal fit preferences. Consider the measurement chart a guideline towards the designer’s intended fit.

Step 2

Consider the function. Are you layering? If so, a bit bigger might be better. Running? Close to the skin to prevent chafing is best.

Step 3

Ask a friend – they know how you like to wear your clothes.

Step 4

Questions you can't find the answer to online? Call the Guest Education Centre at 1.877.263.9300.

Step 5

Find great feedback and photos by reviewing the product shots on our Facebook page or the Fit & Function section on lululemon Flickr account.

Step 6

Stay tuned, we’re launching an exciting tool soon guaranteed to excite!

Like most of us, before I set eyes on the Action Gym Towel, I was certain that my little ol’ gym towel was capable of everything I needed it to do. It did not cross my mind to ask my towel to do more – that’s where our oh-so-talented design team came in to make the day of gym-goers everywhere!

A well-sized, roomy pocket: on its own it sounds pretty average, right? Well, add that pocket to the face of a luxurious gym towel and you have the Action Gym Towel!

It wasn’t until I was getting my things ready for a trip to the gym that I realized this pocket could come in handy before I even walked out my front door.

I have a few extra pieces that I reserve for the gym:

• Hair tie - I’m envying those ladies with short, chic styles right now!
• Slipless headband too, because it has been many long months since I started growing my bangs out
• Gym pass – need it to get through the doors

The pocket lets me keep these items in my towel once it comes out of the wash so that I won't forget to bring my essentials every time I head to the gym.

Now, we all know that ladies tend to carry a few extra pieces, but what about guys? What would they use this pocket for, I wonder?

Fortunately, my fiancée was able to help with that mystery. He chose his iPod and armband carrier, as well as his work out gloves; and yes, it all fit – I closed the zipper myself!

So we’ve covered the gym prep, but how did this towel perform when I arrived at the gym? I tested it every way I could think of, like on the treadmill:

I was most interested to see how it would perform underneath me on the bench, holding my keys all at the same time. I am glad to report that it is large enough to keep the keys from pressing into your back and cover the bench too!

Thank you lululemon design team for taking the everyday gym towel a giant leap forward! Here’s the rest of why you will love the Action Gym Towel:

• This luxurious 20”x30” gym towel makes you want to work up a sweat at the gym
• The perfect blend of cotton and modal, which are both absorbent and super soft against your skin.
• Built-in zipper pocket keeps your keys, coins and a hair tie at your fingertips
• “Hang out friendly”: has a built-in loop so your towel never hits the floor in the locker room

You can find the Action Gym Towel in store or online at http://shop.lululemon.com/Action_Gym_Towel

Nothing could have been better than a rainy fall day in Vancouver to put our Distance Run Hat*Mesh to the test! In my Run: Hills Pullover I added a quick ponytail and hit the seawall…

I have to say that this headwear performed beyond my typical expectations for a hat. Running in a slight rain, the hat protected my face and also shielded my glasses from dreaded raindrops! My favourite feature is actually added directly into the name – MESH!

The mesh provides an excellent amount of ventilation.

Here are a few other features of the Women's Distance Run Hat*Mesh:

Featherweight weather protection for your head

Street style fit with angled brim so it won't blow off when running

Wicking fabric with mesh paneling for ventilation

Zip pocket secures $ and keys

The Challenge: How do we educate our online guests about the feel of our products when they can't reach through their computer screens and touch them?

The Project: We used the Robson lululemon athletica location in downtown Vancouver as our testing ground and asked our own guests to give their input – blindfolded! We placed an item in their hands (our Run: Swiftly Tech made of silverescent) and let them express whatever came to mind…

The Participants:

Gemma, our educator at Robson was more than eager to help out

Two of our wonderful guests, (they were a little shy to reveal their names to our online crowd), were also kind enough to offer their time to our little experiment

The Results:

Our first guest took hold of the Run: Swiftly Tech and the word she came up with was “lightweight”. This is because our silverescent fabric is exceptionally breathable.

Next, she thought it was “soft, but not too soft.” This is because of the silver fibre they hide so well in the fabric! (Check out the close up next.) That silver fibre is the reason silversecent provides anti-stink. Anti-stink means that the silver inhibits, or slows; the growth of odour-causing bacteria that we all know can run rampant after a tough workout!

Our next guest revealed to us that she is an avid runner – who better to give feedback on a run-inspired fabric?!

She was quick to fire off excellent descriptors for us:

• We heard lightweight again – 2 for 2!
• She also thought it was soft
• The comment that rang so true was: “It’s so stretchy; it would have to be breathable.”
• When we asked about a possible use for such a fabric, she immediately suggested running – a good sign indeed!

There are a few other things about silverescent that even touch cannot tell you, but not to worry – that’s what educators are here for:

• silverescent is a seamless knit fabric with mesh venting in high sweat areas
• Along with anti-stink, silverescent has anti-static properties too!
• silvescent includes Lycra for shape retention as well. This prevents your clothing from bagging out after repeated use.

We offer silverescent in both our men’s and women’s lines. Find it in store or online by following any of the links below:
