Meet the Contributor: Ashley
Current role with lululemon: Working as a contractor for the People Resources ‘Attraction’ team while overseas in Europe… living out my dream work / life scenario! I am mostly involved in project management, networking, and strategic sourcing. Oh, and let’s not forget skyping with the team so that I can see their beautiful faces.
Before this: I was a Recruitment Specialist for the last 3 years or so, at the SSC in Vancouver. And before that I was in Law school. And before THAT I would have been dancing, dancing and more dancing… that pretty much sums up my life until now.
Favourite way to sweat: Circuit training, hot yoga, Dailey Method or any type of dance – those are my all time faves. I also have a love-hate relationship with running. Mostly love right now. And exploring new cities and mountains can work up a pretty sweet glow as well!
Guilty pleasure: Blasting a space heater under my extra large towel after a shower… I call it “cocoon-ing” because it creates a little cocoon of heat inside the towel. And sour dough bread. Not together though. That would just be weird.
Inspiration: Books. Film. Nature. Going outside. Architecture. People. Flowers. The Apple “think differently” commercial. Sunshine. The smell of good food. Music. Children. Love… I find inspiration in almost everything. I’m constantly amazed by the world.
Goal or BHAG (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal): By 2020 I will be Dr. Thomson (PhD), running my own business and I will be working on my first book!
All Time Favourite Quote (from a person who is obsessed with quotes!):
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” ~Steve Jobs

Back in October 2006, I joined lululemon athletica’s People Resources team and set a course of events into action that I never could have imagined. Having grown up as a competitive dancer I was mildly obsessed with lululemon and the values it represented (I may have had the manifesto poster on my bedroom wall) so [...]
