Pure Barre
A native of Essexville, Michigan, Emily Johnson has been involved in fitness her entire life. She grew up dancing, cheering, running and tumbling competitively and has taught gymnastics, dance and fitness classes since high school. In college she was a member of the varsity cheerleading squads at Central Michigan University and The Ohio State University where she routinely competed at the UCA College Cheerleading National Championships in Orlando. She was voted captain her senior year at Ohio State before graduating with a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in business.
After a year of graduate work at Otterbein University, Emily came across Pure Barre, took the class once and instantly fell in love with the technique. She says, "It is by far the most fun, challenging and effective way for a women to attain her fitness goals." At 24-years-old, Emily was thrilled to be able to share her love of the technique by opening her first Pure Barre studio in Columbus, Ohio. Emily is dedicated and enthusiastic about growing and developing Pure Barre in central Ohio and is planning on opening a Dublin, Ohio location in the spring of 2012.
Emily believes in giving back and enjoys supporting central Ohio organizations that do good things for the community. At Pure Barre, Emily regularly holds “Pure Give” donation events to benefit organizations including: Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Pelotonia, Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, and more.
When Emily is not lifting, toning, and burning at Pure Barre, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and dog, Tucker.
