In her second season as a triahtlete and runner, Beth Gerdes continues to build the endurance sports community. Beth is passionate about changing the mindset that triathlon is an “individual” sport and wants to focus on the team, mentorship and support aspects of triathlon. It’s all about bringing like-minded active people together to achieve fitness, health and friendship. She loves to lead the weekly lululemon Carlsbad run club and can’t wait to create new group workouts that bring out new faces and revitalize those in search of something new. Claire Petretti has been practicing, studying, and teaching yoga since 1999. Like many fitness enthusiasts, she was initially drawn to yoga for its physical benefits of strength, balance, and flexibility. Once Claire realized that serenity, peace of mind, and a general sense of happiness were predominant results of the practice, she was hooked. A RYT Yoga Alliance instructor, Claire teaches a dynamic vinyasa flow, combined with fun, upbeat music. She utilizes her dance background in her flow sequences so that the movement never stops. Dejinira Lee, Group Fitness Director at PureFitness Carlsbad manages a team of fifty instructors and over 100 classes per week. She has been working in the fitness industry for over a decade teaching Core Strength, Aqua, Gravity, Balance and dance classes, as well as personal training. She is the founder of A New Day Fitness Coaching, a company focused on helping people to overcome physical challenges and get back to a healthier lifestyle. Michael Fukumura has dedicated himself to the practice of Anusara Yoga. Known for his inspiring and supportive teaching style, Michael balances a sense of play and adventure in his classes, with mindful awareness of precise biomechanical alignment. Students learn to practice their yoga from the inside out and he encourages them to discover their natural strengths. Michael is also inclined to give private lessons and leads both immersion yoga and teacher trainings. New Zealander, Rachel Challis is a pro-triathlete, mother of two and owner / head coach of Training Transition. Since she arrived in San Diego from Europe in October 2005, she has realized that California really is the home of triathlons. The sport is growing every year as people find a reason to give triathlons a go. It's not long until they're hooked. And the climate is perfect for all year round outdoor training. Robert Budd was compelled to become an expert in Russian Kettlebells when he picked up his first kettlebell in the summer of 2004. Since then he has studied the teachings and has been certified to instruct others in the practice of kettlebells by Pavel Tsatsouline. Robert has found his passion and purpose in life, helping others complete their mind/body/spirit wellness.
