About ten years ago, I took my first yoga class to complement a daily running routine and stretch out some tight hamstrings. Fortunately, I stayed with the practice long enough to experience something more than a good stretch. Yoga grounds me and wakes me up to the experience of life, to personal development, and to loving relationships.
For many years, I looked outside of myself for happiness and success, only to feel an overwhelming sense of anxiety and self-doubt. There was no present moment; my life revolved around the future - always wishing and looking forward to the next best thing. Through the practice of yoga, I began to accept my life just as it was and I committed to being more present with my self, with others around me, and to the beautiful every day moments that I so often took for granted.
I made a conscious decision during Virabhadrasana II (Warrior 2) in 2009 that I would quit my job in Financial Services and live a life I truly felt passionate about through teaching yoga. I am forever grateful to the teachers that have inspired this journey for me. I completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Training with Rolf Gates in 2009 in Santa Cruz, CA and more recently completed a CE teacher training with two Master Baptiste teachers (Claire Este-Mcdonald and Gregor Singleton) at Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA.
Today, I find myself living a life I love in Shelburne, VT with my husband Andy, Swiss Mountain Dog, Nui, and baby on the way. I teach Vinyasa Flow classes at various locations around Burlington with a primary focus at South End Studio on Pine Street. My Vinyasa Flow classes offer a challenging flow of postures that unfold through the rhythm of the breath and promote a peaceful state of mind. I look forward to practicing with you soon. ~Katie
