Judy Weaver is currently the Director of Yoga South’s 200 & 500 hour Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training Program in Boca Raton, Florida. She is a former insurance company and private school executive and her passion for yoga developed during her recovery in 1990 from an illness and led to her becoming a certified Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher in 2000. Her passion remains strong and she continues to study many yoga styles with senior teachers from around the world. She is a frequent guest speaker at Lynn University’s Mind-Body Medicine classes. Her established expertise and knowledge is sought out by students and teachers alike in the South Florida area.
Charitable service was instilled by Judy’s family and she has continued that tradition by starting The Connected Warriors, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free yoga classes to military personnel and their families who suffer from PTSD. She was inspired by one of her students, a US Army Ranger, deceased, to share her knowledge with other military personnel. Connected Warriors is currently offering free weekly classes at 8 locations in South Florida and will be training yoga teachers in Kentucky and North Carolina in the fall. Her vision is to provide free classes nationwide.
Judy’s classes are energetic flowing meditations that synchronize breath and movement, blending Ashtanga, Anusara, Iyengar and Yin yoga styles while maintaining proper alignment. She encourages her students to have fun, find their edge, let go of expectations and incorporate yoga into their everyday lives. She embraces the spirit of ahimsa (non-violence), shanti (peace) and dharma (natural laws). The practice of yoga is simply a state of being.
